Vehicle Detail
1966 Porsche 912 - Mechanically Sound - Drives Well Current Title - Texas "Rebuilt Title" Previous Title - California "Salvage Title" This car is registered in Texas, it has passed the state safety inspection, and is road legal right now, as is. This 912 has been cared for by an excellent classic Porsche shop and its running gear has recently been given a clean bill of health. The engine is a 4 cylinder VW unit and is not original to the car. True Mileage is Unknown. The car has been very reliable while I have owned it and has never failed to start on me. It usually takes two to three attempts on a cold start and requires throttle until the engine is warm. Once warm, the engine idles nicely and starts on the first try. The car steers, shifts, brakes, and drives as it should with no issues to speak of. Its electrics are in working order, although I have never put a radio in it and can not say whether the stereo system is working. In the time that I have owned it, I have replaced the gas tank and front tie rods at the Porsche mechanic's suggestion. Other than those two items, the shop has had no other suggestions for work on the running gear. In their own words the car is "running like a top." Please see photos for cosmetic detail. The car was involved in a rear end collision sometime before I bought it and the cosmetic damage from that collision has never been repaired. The engine lid closes, but the latch does not release without pulling on the engine lid with considerable effort. There are three areas of rust: 1. On top of the front passenger side fender2. Under the front of the car (near the gas tank) 3. In the damaged section of the rear There is very little, if any, rust other than those three areas. The floor boards are in good shape. The car is being sold AS IS, with no warranties, express or implied. I would suggest an in person inspection if possible, if not, I am happy to have the car inspected by a third party at bidders expense. High bidder is responsible for all shipping, tax, and others fees that they may incur. Although the car needs some T.L.C., I think it would make a great driving project car for anyone who is looking to get into a S.W.B. Porsche at a fair price. Any questions, feel free to ask. I am here to help in any way that I can.
