This 1989 Jeep Cherokee pioneer needs some work but is a great starting point for your next project.It starts every time and I still use it to drive around town but some time, work, and money will be needed to get it back to daily driver condition.Here's what's wrong:The engine has a tick on the top end and a knock on the bottom.Oil passes the valves and ends up in the air cleaner box.ENGINE NEEDS TO BE RE-BUILTThe 4-wheel drive no longer engages. Don't know why.The transmission shifts perfect when the outside temp is below 60 degrees. Above 60 and it starts to slip out of gear (like it's in neutral) and I have to drop it in to 2nd gear and leave it there to keep it going. This may be a sensor but I haven't had the time to work on it.The AC compressor will need replaced. It blows the fuse when turned on so it has been disconnected.The radio works but all of the speakers are blown.The driver door lock does not work. ( I pulled the key out and springs came shooting out of the lock.).The body is in good shape with a few rust areas starting to appear. It looks like part of the Jeep was repainted some time in the past.The interior is in very good condition.It still passes inspection and has a newer muffler.The tires still have a lot of miles left on them.
