Vehicle Detail

This is a RARE opportunity for a Chevelle Super Sport enthusiast to own an all ORIGINAL Super Sport LS5 454 Survivor. The odometer shows 86,000 miles and has not rolled over. This Chevelle SS comes in a rare and desired color combination of Forest Green on green interior. The car was found sitting in a garage in Ohio. It had been there since 1982 and was last registered in 1981. The original owner bought the car from Butler Chevrolet in New London, Connecticut. He kept meticulous maintenance records including a handwritten log in a hard covered notebook (please see pics). This notebook as well as the original Build Sheet and owners’ manual will be included in the sale of this car. The second owner lived in Ohio. He drove the car from 1979 – 1980. He then sold the car to his younger brother who drove the car until 1982 and then parked it in the garage. It remained in that garage until a few months ago and, in fact, still has the original license plate on it. I was told that the car was started every so often to keep the valve stem seals from drying out. I thoroughly inspected the car and the following work was done after pulling it from 33-years of indoor storage: The gas tank was dropped and cleaned. New fuel pumpNew batteryNew water pumpOriginal radiator re-coredNew master cylinderNew starterNew plugs, wires, cap, button, condenser, points, and coil The Quadra-jet carb was removed and replaced with a Holley to start the car. Both the Holley and Quadra-jet carb will come with the car. After all the work was completed, the car started right up and now runs just like a 454 LS5 should. Overall, this original Chevelle is in very good condition: ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/REAR-END The original numbers matching engine runs and drives excellent. The 454 is pad stamped with the last four are 7CRT. The pad also has the correct VIN stamping of 10A166131. The Quadra Jet carb is stamped 7040200 which is correct for a 1970 Chevelle SS 454.The original air cleaner is missing. The following is the cowl tag information: 70-13637 A 51470796 B80 B90 4848059 400721 530125The original numbers matching M22 four-speed shifts smooth, and firm. The tag reads 976766WO which is also correct for this car. Original 12-bolt 331 posi-traction rear. The code is CRV. EXTERIOR The fender, door and lower rear quarter where re-sprayed at some point.Driver’s side rear lower quarter will need some work. The rear deck lid has dings. The car appears to have been dealer undercoated. There are no visible holes in the floorboards or trunk area. The car still has the original Magnum 500 wheels. The tires (G60-14) have good tread and look to be vintage 70’s and from that time period. INTERIOR The front driver-side seat has two tears. The front passenger-side seat has one small minor split at a seam but is, otherwise, in very good condition. The rear seats are in very good condition.Original headliner is still in excellent condition. The dash has a small crack in it over the driver-side speaker. The door panels are in good condition. The carpet is all original and very presentable. The Tachometer window is cracked and is missing a piece of plastic. It has the desired gauge cluster with the tach and clock. The cowl induction hood scoop and tachometer work. The lights, turn-signals, and fuel-gauge work as they should and the buzzer still goes off when you open the door. I am looking for a serious Chevelle SS LS5 buyer. The pictures and description should answer most questions. To save us both time, please read the ad thoroughly before emailing to make sure I haven’t already addressed your question in the ad. These auctions are an investment of time, energy, and money on the part of the seller. Please do not bid on the car if you do not intend to follow through on your bid.
