Vehicle Detail

This Astro started out life as a GM corporate vehicle in TX until it was purchased by a family in rural Iowa. I purchased the van in February 2013 and brought it to Indiana. The van has never spent time in "the city" and it really shows. There are virtually no dings, dents, or other blemishes typically connected to life in an urban area. We used the van for projects around the house and to take occasional trips in. Until it's recent issue it has always been a very solid vehicle.2003 Chevy Astro Service History March 2013 · New Ac Delco Platinum Spark Plugs · New Delphi Spark Plugs Wires · All new heater and coolant hoses · New Moog Stabilizer Bar Bushings · New Moog Stabilizer Bar Links · New AC Delco HVAC Blower Motor · New Moog Idler Arms · New Doorman Wiper Motor Pulse Board · New Stant Thermostat · New Delphi Distributor Cap · New AC Delco Fuel Filter · New Delphi Distributor Rotor · New Rear Differential Fluid, Cover, and Gasket · New Gates Belt · New Gates Tensioner Pulley · New Monroe Sensa Track Shocks – All 4 · New Moog Center Link · New Wix Air Filter · New Rear Duralast Gold Ceramic Brake Pads · Nerw Duralast Brake Rotors · New Oil Cooler Lines · New Transfer Case Fluid using proper GM Fluid · New Transmission Fluid · New Front Differential Fluid · Coolant Flush May 2013 · New Duralast Rear Brake Calipers June 2013 · New Delphi Complete Distributor Assembly · New Delphi Ignition Coil · 4 Wheel Alignment · Additional Transmission Cooler Added July 2013 · New AC Delco gas cap · New Fel-Pro “Improved” Intake Manifold Gaskets (upper and lower) · New Walker Tail pipe and Muffler · New Delphi MAF Sensor · New Delphi/Denso O2 Sensors – All 3 · New Walker Catalytic Converter · New AC Delco MAP sensor · New GB Remanufacturing Complete Fuel Injection Spider Aseembly October 2013 · New Front Cardone Front Brake Calipers · New Front Duralast Gold Ceramic Brake Pads · New Front Duralast Brake Rotors · Remanufactured Power Steering Pump · All new Power Steering lines June 2014 · New Silverstar Headlamps September 2014 · New Firestone Destination LE2 Tires · 4 Wheel Alignment · New Timken Front Wheel Bearings/Hubs October 2014 · New AC Delco Platinum Spark Plugs · New distributor gear Oil Changed Every 3 months or 3,000 miles using Chevron Oil and an AC Delco Oil Filter Van Fully detailed every Spring and Fall Now for the bad....The van recently began accelerating rather slowing when warm outside and eventually this problem progressed to a rough idle. It was brought to a mechanic who did a compression test on all cylinders. All cylinders were within spec except for cylinder 6 which showed a compression reading of 90. The mechanic recommended a valve job. The van does start and run but honestly I wouldn't recommend driving it too terribly far. The van is in overall VERY good condition, certainly better than most of them I see. That said there a couple of problems I will point out simply in the name of being honest. Small scratch/rub mark on rear door.Scratch on right side rear panel caused by a runway mailbox :)If I were keeping the van I would repaint the front bumper. It looks okay but the pain is chipped and it overall looks a bit tired.Very small ding on hood.Paint chipping on passenger door edgeGlass portion of passenger side mirror missing. Very small amount of clear coat is starting to peel from sliding door and passenger door.Diver side interior door armrest is worn and cracked (very common problem)Rear heater has been disconnected. The unit works but a line developed a leak and since I did not use it I simply took the heater out of the loop. Couple of items worth noting....This van has a limited slip rear differential. Not all of the AWD Astro/Safari vans had this but it is a very sought after option.A shut off valve has been installed under the hood to take the heater core completely out of loop in the summer months. Anyone who knows these vans knows that often the heater core will put off a small amount of heat, even in the summer, making for a rather warm passenger. This shut off fixed that problem and also did away with the very problematic factory, vacuum actuated valve that would often become brittle and shatter....causing a massive coolant leak. The AC has always worked and it still does. However, despite the system being full of Freon it does not get as cool as it did in summers past. The system does work, as is evident by water dripping from both the front and rear systems, but it could use some attention. An aftermarket stereo unit has been installed which included new door speakers and tweeters up front, new speakers on the rear pillars, and 2 subs in the rear doors. This system is powered by 2 amps, 1 for the subs and 1 for the set of 4 speakers. It is by no means competition quality (and wasn't meant to be), it simply provided for a nice upgrade over the worn out stock system. In closing, this is a very nice van and I am sad to see it go. I simply no longer need it and as such could not justify repairing it. Most of the common issues have already been attended to on this van so with a little time and money you could have yourself a very nice vehicle. Keep in mind this van was maintained with the assumption that it would be kept for quite awhile. No short cuts, no cheap parts, and only quality fluids/filters have been used. Sold as is and without reserve. The highest bid wins!!
