Vehicle Detail
For Sale: Offering my 1997 E320 at 206,524 miles. I bought this car 5 years ago at 131,000 miles and she has been my daily driver since. This car has been a fantastic addition to the family. Serviced and maintained at regular intervals. Just B-Serviced last month at 204,000. I've bought and sold many cars on ebay and remain at 100% feedback. Don't waste a cent on a Carfax or Autocheck report. I will tell you everything I know about the car as follows: The Good: 1. Daily driver for me and my now 3 year old son since it was bought. 2. Serviced at recommended Mercedes intervals with synthetic oils and Mercedes or OEM parts as needed. 3. Perfect frame, no shimmy or alignment issues at all. This car can still take 100 mph plus speeds like she's on rails. 4. No A/C codes. Blows ice cold air. System recharged at last service interval. 5. Good, but not great gas milage. It's heavy and comfortable and I've averaged 400 miles to the tank lately. 6. Michelin Pilot A/S with about 40% life left all around. 7. Not rusted.8. Passed smog (March 2015) and registered in California through March 2016. The Not So Good: 1. At the last service interval, mechanic advised that the water pump was weeping and about to go. He was correct. As of Father's Day, this CAR NEEDS A NEW WATER PUMP. It's not completely gone, yet. But it's rattling, and NOT DRIVABLE until it's replaced. It starts fine. Moves with no problems (out of driveway into street, then out of street and back into driveway), but I do not want it to completely fail and then lose coolant, damage engine, etc. Exterior Condition: 1. Starting at the front end. The hood was scratched four years ago by some kids goofing around. I had it repainted, but the clear coat/paint is now fading. The fade can be seen in the hood picture. It's certainly noticeable. 2. Some idiot backed into my front left fender. It's just above the tire well. It does not effect the drivability of the car, but it's certainly noticeable. 3. Headlights were sanded and polished and clear-coated. Although they are still clear, the clear-coat is starting to chip at the very top of the lens. 4. Front bumper trim is chipped. 5. The window tint on the left rear window is starting to wrinkle. 6. The window tint on the right rear window is scratched. 7. Very small rock crack on the lower passenger side of the windshield. It does not show up in pictures. The line in the windshield that looks like a crack is a street lamp reflected in the windshield. 8. Small dent on upper trunk edge where I backed into a black, plastic garbage can. 9. Paint transfer on lower bumper where somebody clipped the edge of the bumper. 10. Various dings and chips in the rear bumper. 11. Paint transfer on the right, rear bumper edge. 12. Significant and noticeable door ding on the right passenger front door where I was dinged at the golf course. 13. Right side mirror motor is broken. 14. Clear-coat is chipping from the left fender and across the left side door tops. After my last mechanic visit, May 6, they inspected and advised the following for the car: 1. Small shadow leak from radiator drain plug. (They advised a radiator replacement, but the radiator was replaced two years ago and I have not had an incident with it since. She runs between 80 and 100 even on the hottest days here in Southern California.) 2. Replace water pump (as previously mentioned). 3. Front Flex Disk needs to be replaced. Rear Flex Disk is OK. 4. Vacuum Block needs to be replaced. 5. Ball Joints need to be replaced. Interior Condition: 1. Small split in driver's seat leather. 2. Over 85 degrees in bright daylight, the LCD portion of the instrument cluster fades out. 3. Cup holder mechanism is not working. 4. Radio volume button goes nutty occasionally. When it does, it takes a few quick turns to lower the volume. 5. CD player works, but only through right speakers. Radio functions on both sides of the car. 6. Tape Deck does not work. (Thank my 3 year old and a quarter.) 7. Occasional vacuum leak unlocking the right, rear passenger door. 8. The latch on the center arm storage box is nicked. To open the latch you have to use a key or the tip of a pen. The ultimate skinny is if you want a tank of a car, can repair the water pump, and aren't concerned with the exterior dings and blemishes, she has another 100,000 miles in her, easily. I'm happy to take any additional pictures by request or answer any questions.
