Vehicle Detail
This absolutely stunning little Beetle was bought new in 1974 by an older couple, to tow behind their new motor home. They hated it!!!! It had a standard transmission, which was difficult for them to drive. So they towed in on a car dolly, and only drove it when necessary, at campgrounds, to town, to the showers, etc. It was bought for this purpose, as evidenced by the lack of a radio. It has a radio delete plate and a plug where the antenna would have been installed. When they would come home from a trip, the motorhome, and the Bug, would go into a storage building on their property, and await the next trip. When they could no longer drive the motorhome, they simply left it in the building, along with the Bug. A number of years ago, they gave this puppy to a granddaughter. She drove it a couple times, didn't like it (no stereo and a stick shift), so back into storage it went. Upon their passing, their grandson took it upon himself to deal with the motorhome and Bug. He sold the motorhome, cleaned up the Beetle, and that's when I heard about it. I new the grandson, but was not aware that he had this jewel. I purchased it, did a little (very little) paint work on it, installed new tires, and here it is. It runs perfectly, as it should. Everything works. The glass is all original. The rubbers, seals, etc. are all original. Somewhere along the line, the front seat upholstery was replaced, and I don't know why. The bumpers are very shiney, and the decos are fine. This lovely critter has been driven just 3,370 miles since new. It was towed many miles on the car dolly, but very seldom disconnected and driven....... THIS IS LIKE BUYING A NEW 1974 VOLKSWAGON BEETLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have posted pictures that display just how nice this Beetle is, and can add more of whatever anyone would like. On Aug-13-15 at 13:11:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I have spoken with the family in regards to the mileage. They just don't remember this critter ever being driven around town. It was always hooked up to the motorhome, in a large farm building. When I first looked at this Bug, there was a bundle of papers in the glove box. The fellow took them out and gave them to his Grandmother. She figured they were of no value, and tossed 'em. When I asked recently, he mentioned that he had gone through all the receipts for oil change, tune-up, etc, the mileage was always very low, and increased by minimal amounts, chronologically. I do have the manual, with the first oil change and tune, done by the dealer here in Caldwell, and was also the listed selling dealer. There is a registration receipt in the manual from 1985, in the Grandparents name. Any question, gimme a call, Bruce (208) 695-3956
