Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Up for auction is our super-clean 1973 Ford Ranchero GT with 78K actual miles. This Ranchero has been a Carolina car since new, and never seen snow or salt. This car originally belonged to my Great Uncle Lloyd who worked for Ford Motor Co. in their Cleveland Engine Assembly Plant. When Lloyd retired, he moved home to Newton, NC and purchased this cool Ranchero. Lloyd drove this car sporadically, as it was always a second vehicle for him. Lloyd was a smooth operator, who was a big hit with the ladies even well into his later years. He drove a 2003 Ford Thunderbird convertible and had a girlfriend, who was married, when he passed at age 85. The other noteworthy item about Lloyd was that he had not been to see a doctor since he was discharged from the Army in 1945 following WWII. Uncle Lloyd passed away in 2005, and my Grandfather, who was also in his early 80s at the time, inherited the car. I purchased this car from my Grandfather in 2010 and only put about 2000 miles on her over the past five years. We have taken the car on some 200-mile weekend road trips, cruising at 75-80 mph, and she has performed flawlessly. I replaced the vinyl top, the vinyl bench seat, and the carpet due to sun fading. This Ranchero is equipped with the 351-Cleveland engine that is favored by enthusiasts. This engine is equipped with a 2bbl carb that has been recently rebuilt. The drivetrain also consists of an FMX transmission and 3.00 Ford 9” rear axle for smooth highway cruising. The car is tight and quiet. The engine starts and runs flawlessly. The transmission shifts smoothly. The engine has a nice sound with the glasspack mufflers. The car is very easy to drive with air-conditioning, power steering, and power disc brakes. Other options include GT-package, air-conditioning, white vinyl roof, power steering, power disc brakes, visibility group, raised white letter tires, tinted glass, Magnum 500 chrome wheels, electric clock, and dual sport mirrors. The AC has been converted to R134, and blows ice cold. All of the lights work. Seatbelt and key-in-ignition buzzers work, and are as annoying as heck! We did a quartz conversion on the optional electric clock, and it keeps absolutely perfect time. There was one high-quality repaint back in 2005, and the correct stripe kit was sourced. There are several dings and some paint chips in the bed where we used it as a truck, and hauled bicycles, lawn mowers, etc. There is a ding in the corner of the rear bumper, but these defects are clearly shown in the pictures. This is not a 100-point show car, but a nice, clean driver, that could be driven daily. The condition is a strong #2, and capable of being shown with pride at cruise-ins and car shows. It is also a reliable vehicle that has never been abused. This truck has been regularly maintained, and could be driven cross-country tomorrow while providing the best the 1970s had in terms of comfort and convenience. Please see the pictures of the original sale documents, the owners/warranty manuals, starting instructions, Ford Certicard, and the Marti report. Underneath this truck is absolutely stunning. Please see all of the pictures. The car was appraised at $15,000.00 in May of 2010, at the darkest point of the recession. Our reserve is a LOT less. Please also see the included Marti report that describes the car’s options in detail. The car has an aftermarket Kenwood stereo with 9” speakers in the doors. This stereo has an iPod interface, as well as Sirius/XM and Pandora. We do have a period new-in-box RCA AM/FM/8-track stereo that will go with the vehicle for the purists. The interior is very nice, but not perfect. There are some cracks in the pockets of the interior door handles that are hard to see. I have been an Ebay member since 2001 and am proud of our 100% feedback. If you have zero or crappy feedback, please contact me before you bid. Please ask any questions before you bid!! We would welcome and encourage inspections. The car is located in Greenville, SC. We are located 15-miles from Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport. We are 100-miles from Charlotte, 125-miles from Atlanta, 150-miles from Knoxville. If you would like to arrange an inspection by an independent mechanic, we would help to facilitate this. We will assist with shipping the vehicle, however, all shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. The car can be shipped internationally through the new South Carolina inland port, which is located about 15-miles from us.Any questions? Please call me, Ed, at (864) 940-7065.
