Vehicle Detail
This is a privately sold vintage BMW 325e, zippy and fun, great-looking, well-loved and well-taken care of. It is an excellent find for any E30 enthusiast, a fun city car or weekend chariot, or a super-cheap buy for a young driver on a budget who still wants something with attitude and tons of style. The engine runs great and has proven quite reliable for us. This is a well-running and sturdy but classic car, and will require regular maintenance and basic mechanical knowledge to keep running smoothly. Engine head, transmission, air system, exhaust system, and suspension have all been well-maintained and recently serviced and are in fine working order. Electrical system shows its age but mostly works well. Exterior condition is very attractive and garners regular compliments, however upon close inspection there are several areas of cracking and peeling on the paint, and the lower rubber skirting has some cracks and small missing pieces. The car has been parked in NYC most of its life so has the usual small dings and scratches. All main body trim is in good condition, glass is clear and sound. NO RUST, the main body and undercarriage are sound and free of holes. Timing belt was changed 2 years/15,000 miles ago. All other belts and hoses replaced within the past two years and functioning well. Full set of matching Cooper tires with two years and 15,000 miles on them, rotated six months ago. Have run the car with premium gas for the past four years. Interior is comfortable and attractive, with original leather. There is the expected patina from 30-year-old leather seats, but no major rips, tears, or holes. Dashboard has 3 cracks, but is otherwise stable and solid. Some center console panels are slightly loose. Modern stereo system has been installed and connected to the original BMW amplifier. Includes a CD player, removeable face, and 3.5mm plus USB inputs for your phone or device. Nothing better than driving a 30-year-old vintage car and streaming your music from the Web! Current known issues with the car: --Air conditioning in non-functional. The compressor and fan system is theoretically sound and has blown cold air as recently as a few years ago, but the main compressor line runs too close to the engine block and consistently splits due to engine heat, causing the AC to fail. In order to repair the AC, a new line would need to be re-routed through a different path.--The main instrument panel has been rebuilt, and no longer shows accurate mileage. The odometer is from a different vehicle and is approximately +60,000. Although the gas, temperature, and tach gauges now work great, the speedometer intermittently drops out. This is likely just a loose connection that can be easily fixed, but would require dismantling the steering column to access, which I haven't wanted to do again since replacing the instrumental panel.--Central locking mechanism works well, but the car can no longer be locked at the driver side door. Unlocking works well on all doors, but currently the car can be locked only at the passenger door or the trunk. This can be fixed for under $200 if you're willing to buy some parts and take the driver side door panel off.--Minor electrical gremlins, such as an inaccurate oil warning light and a coolant warning light that is always on due to a poor wire connection at the reserve coolant tank. Car lives in Brooklyn, NYC. We must meet in person to sign over the title and take a walk-through of the car, and a test drive and inspection are encouraged before purchase. Payment can be made via cash, bank check, wire transfer, or PayPal.
