Vehicle Detail

This one-of-a-kind Pony will let you stand out from the crowd of “Mustangs with Shelby style parts”, and “Eleanor recreations”. Hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars went into this nut and bolt restoration/restomod. I’ll do my best to provide accurate descriptions and details of this car. Here are the specifics: Engine and Driveline: · Fuel Injected 5.0 HO engine with forged pistons and mild roller cam. · Custom intake piping and Spectre air cleaner provide free-flow breathing. · Long tube headers, X-pipe, free flow mufflers, and 2.5” pipes handle the exhaust chores. · Cooling is managed by an aluminum radiator and electric fan. · Gear selection is through a Hurst Shifter mounted to a Borg Warner T5 5-speed transmission. Shifting is smooth and easy, yet precise · Hydraulic actuated clutch. Once you feel the hydraulic clutch you will never, ever want to go back to cable or Z-bar · Power is delivered to the 8” rear equipped with Currie axles. The engine runs great and pulls strong. Small leak from real seal which may go away if the car is driven more. Power seems a bit more than stock 86 GT engine, with plenty of options available for bigger HP. The engine fires right up, idles great. Put it in gear, press the pedals, and go! Body and Paint: The Shelby, Eleanor, and custom pieces on this car were not inexpensive! Countless hours went into blending together the fiberglass nose, facia, hood w/scoop, side scoops, spoiler, deck lid, end caps, and rear bumper. Hand fabricated welded steel rocker skirts add chassis stiffness as well as outstanding looks. The project started out with a decent 66 coupe body and new sheetmetal was welded in as needed. The body was sealed with epoxy primer, followed by additional coats of primer and hours of blocking. 3 coats of PPG Wimbledon White and Tangerine were followed by 3 coats of PPG 2-stage urethane paint. Satin black accents add to the look. The color combo is an awesome eye catcher. Everybody stops to look at it. Overall the paint and body work is impressive in quality, scope, and presentation, while up close imperfections are noticeable when compared to the highest end workmanship. Chassis, Suspension, and Steering: Go karts are fun, right? How would you like your own full-size Mustang go kart? · Handling improvements start out with 1-piece Monte Carlo brace and shock tower support, welded-in-place frame connectors, and hand-fabricated welded side skirts. · Suspension package include lowered performance coil springs and leaf springs, and KYB shocks on all four corners. · Poly bushings, 1-1/8” front sway bar, and 5/8” rear sway bar keep things flat and firm. · How about that famously bad Mustang power steering? Forget it! The Borgeson power steering conversion with quick-ratio gears is way better than stock. · New coil spring perches, leaf spring mounts, control arms, and misc. steering parts keep things tight. · The 17” Mustang “Bullet” style wheels are wrapped with Continental Extreme Contact DWS 235/45/17 tires and provide the right size and performance for this machine. Brakes: · 4-wheel power assisted disc brakes slow things down in a hurry. Excellent progressive feel and adjustable proportioning valve. The harder you push the quicker you stop. · All new lines and hoses, and fully functional emergency brake round out the package. Interior: · Custom gauges include functional electronic speedo and tachometer. Oil pressure gauge and water temperature functional, however the gas gauge and ammeter are not working. · AM/FM/USB/Audio/Aux stereo includes kick panels, and dash speaker · Custom console, custom front seats, and re-upholstered rear Pony seat provide a striking non-stock look. Yes, you have a place to put your phone, and soda or coffee! · New dash pad, door panels, kick plates, package shelf, and seat belts keep things looking crisp. · Headliner and carpet are not new, have some issues, but are presentable. Trims and Details: · Custom 2-piece billet grille · New taillights, parking lights, back-up lights, 2” halogen driving lights, and HID headlights. · New GT gas cap, exhaust bezels, door handles, and mirrors. · New rear window seal, windshield seal, door seals, and window felts · New and OEM wire harness with 3 new fuse panels. · New gas tank and electric fuel pump. · GT aftermarket steering wheel. The cost of the custom, aftermarket, and reproduction parts is over $15,000. Fabrication, body, and paint work is valued at $7,500. Suspension, steering, mechanical, electrical, and engine conversion is worth over $12,000. Add to that the finish work, plus the base cost of the body and driveline. This is custom creation where every inch of the car has been re-worked. It is not a perfect 10-point concours show car restored to original condition. This car has around 600 miles on it since the restoration. It is a one-off radical Mustang that can be a daily driver, taken to an auto-cross or track day, and draws a crowd at the local show. Look at the pictures. Call and talk to me. Come look at the car. I want you to understand what you are buying, and want you to be happy with your decision.
