Vehicle Detail
It's a 1930 Chevy universal canopy express / depot hack / open-sided truck / open cab pickup. The story I received is that it's a 1930 (although a couple people told me it's possibly a 1929) and was originally bought new from Chevrolet and you got it as a running chassis / cab. It was then transported to a coachbuilder (This one in particular is believed to have been taken to MARTIN SPARRY of Mass. according to the research done) and built into the canopy express shown here. According to research, it's EXTREMELY RARE and not many survived, (I was told by a fairly knowledgeable collector that there were less than 1,000 built this year but I haven't been able to verify this.) When new it was from Waterloo, IL (the lettering can still be seen on the door) and used to haul 10-gallon steel milk jugs to market. The owner I bought it from had it for 10 years and stored inside, and the owner before that had it stored inside for 25 years. The sheet metal on the body is complete including the original spare tire still attached underneath, it still has all the factory hardware still on the bed, body and tailgate. The rear fenders are rough but are the same as the cars of the same year so they should be easily replaceable (i've heard people using model A ford rear fenders as they're reproduced and a close match.) The front fenders although fair to rough are believed to be savable. All steel pieces, sheetmetal and hardware are there, and there is enough wood left to create patterns for new wood, including the steering wheel and top (it's still wearing it's original wayne coating roof.) . It steers, rolls, and the tires hold air. The only pieces I could see that are missing are headlights and shift knob. There is no longer any fabric upholstery but all seats and interior hard parts are there. I was told when I bought it that with a crank the engine will turn over and it appears complete but I haven't tried to do so. The engine and all drivetrain pieces appear complete and to be in usable / restorable shape. It would make a great project as there aren't many pieces that need to be tracked down that isn't being reproduced and would make for a truly unique piece once done. It's all there, the chassis is solid and complete and it actually looks much worse than it is due to the bad wood (but it WILL NEED EVERYTHING). There is some rust in the sheet metal but all important pieces are believed to be repairable. The firewall still wears it's original blue paint, the dash and fenders were black. It would make a GREAT piece for yard art, or finished for business advertising, collection or parades. No title but I will supply a bill of sale. AGAIN, NO TITLE. TO BE CLEAR, IT LOOKS MUCH WORSE THAN IT ACTUALLY IS. IF YOU KNOW VINTAGE CARS YOU'LL KNOW HOW WHEN THE WOOD ROTS THE BODY STRUCTURE IS COMPROMISED.the truck IS offered for sale locally so I do reserve the right to end the auction early. Be prepared to have your own shipping arrangements done prior to bidding, I can not nor will i be able to shop for you. It will need to be covered, strapped down to protect the wood or transported in an enclosed trailer due to the condition of the wood itself. I can help with loading at the time of pickup. If the buyer lives in or near Denver I can transport it for the fuel cost at my earliest convenience, as long as it's paid for in full in advance. This truck is sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, HOW-IS, no warranty expressed or implied. I have done the best of my ability to describe everything I can on the truck. PLEASE EMAIL OR CALL ME regarding any other questions as I want the buyer to know what he's buying. There are no returns, once the auction ends, YOU OWN IT. I will follow thru on this end, the sale is a legal binding contract so bid to buy. PLEASE contact me for alternate payment means besides paypal, they are encouraged, and preferred. (I WILL accept paypal if that's your only means of payment as long as i charge a bit extra to cover the fees they take but would rather not.) I've had many questions concerning a timeline for payment and pickup. you can contact me at 720 628 4947 by call or text to discuss and finalize this. again, i prefer anything other than paypal as payment but will take it if necessary and as for a means and a timeline for pickup i can discuss this with the new owner. once paid for we can agree to a fair timeline for storing it until it's picked up (within reason, as it's at a friend's place and he needs it removed soon). The reserve here is less than what it's advertised for locally so feel free to email or call with a reasonable offer. Thanks again and good luck! I've managed to scrounge up another engine and transmission that will go with the truck (it's included in the sale if the buyer wants it) that wasn't announced at the time of auction start. It's truly rough and been exposed to the elements but it's period correct and mostly complete. Maybe some outside pieces and the transmission / clutch assembly can be used. Either way it has some parts to donate and it's included with the purchase. I've lowered the reserve and added a BUY IT NOW, (just a hint, the reserve is just UNDER the buy it now.) Good luck! On May-21-15 at 20:30:45 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE: THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I'LL BE EBAYING IT, ONCE THIS AUCTION ENDS, THAT'S IT. IT WON'T BE OFFERED HERE AGAIN SO IF THERE'S AN INTEREST YOU'LL NEED TO ACT. THANKS AGAIN. REGARDS!
