Vehicle Detail

1964 Kaiser Jeep CJ-5Super Clean from Top to Bottom, Tip to TailWell Equipped Mountain Goat, Beach Comber or Kids Safari Ride? All of the above and ready to enjoy! This is a pretty cool little rig. I've had Land Cruisers and they are great vehicles. Something about the setup for this one really catches kid's imaginations. Like classic Land Cruisers, jeeps from this era are studies in rugged simplicity. Take a quick tour at the following link -http://s1382.photobucket.com/user/rootedowne/library/1964%20Jeep%20CJ-5 Exterior Details -- This vehicle hails from Tennessee. The long time previous owner restored it with care and attention to detail. The paint is not done to a concours level, but it was thorough and has held up well. There are signs of use like the door openings and rear foot wells. Overall, very presentable. He started with a dry, solid truck and made sure it was good to go for the long haul. Canvas Top -- I imagine there are quite a few options when it comes to outfitting such a classic jeep with top, doors and side curtains. The canvas on this vehicle is very high quality. Generous use of latches make a pretty secure fit around door openings. The straps feel just like old camping equipment. Stamped part numbers on this inside lend a "government issued" feel. Tan and dark green is certainly a nice combo isn't it? Interior -- The interior is another study in simplicity. Each seat is equipped with a seat belt, but no airbags. Most of the time we ride with the top on to enjoy the shade it provides. The rear section can be secured to the center rail in the soft top frame. They tuck away neatly and give it a kind of beach or camping rig open air feel. Dash & Footwells -- It has been a long, long time since a simpler dash was made hasn't it? I love the nice big round speedometer. The choke and throttle work great. Choke it once in the morning and you're good to go. No need to wonder where the wiper motors are, they're right in front of your head. They work just fine too. Engine Bay -- Clean enough to invite friends for dinner. Kind of has a sewing machine simplicity and even hum to it. It has been lovingly preserved and maintained with an eye for detail. Engine decals offer a trip back in time. They even feel earlier than 1964. The condition of the hood seal and radiator felt are impressive. Wheels, Tires and Details -- Wheels are finished in classic white. The front lock out hubs are quite beefy (not sure if they are an upgrade, but they seem like it). They turn freely and work great. The rims have a few scuffs. The tires have almost no wear. The spare and the shovel that it holds haven't even seen dirt yet. The spare gas tank is in excellent shape. Comes with matching canvas cover and a lock to secure it. I must admit, it saved me once already and was very easy to use. Windshield & Tailgate -- The top comes off completely and can be folded behind the rear seat and stowed away. The windsheld bumpers are in great shape. The tail gate chains are classic with a nice detail in the canvas sleeves. Rear seat easily lifts and comes with a nice latch to secure it. The rear seat is definitely a more modern upgrade. It is covered with a rugged weatherproof canvas. The passenger side includes a step (4th pic below). I have the driver's side too and it will come with the vehicle (not installed). Undercarriage -- This CJ is as clean underneath as it is on top. A scuff plate underneath doesn't seem to have ever come in contact with anything. Frame, exhaust, springs and all mechanicals are top notch. You really couldn't ask for more on an enjoyable classic. Questions, Bidding, Shipping, Etc. -- Questions -- The photos and descriptions were intended to give you a very thorough even intimate feel for this classic Jeep. It is ready to enjoy. If you have any questions or would like to arrange to see it, please call. (816) 786-7534. I'm in Kansas City (Central time). Bidding -- the reserve is not mentioned out of respect for the bidding process. Simply bid the amount you feel comfortable investing in a this well appointed and preserved classic. Jeeps may be enjoying a bit of a boost from the FJ40 enthusiasm. Regardless, there will likely be quite a few people involved in this process. Please have your finances in order before you bid. When you treat the bidding process and the serious contract to purchase that it is, everyone wins. Many thanks in advance. Shipping -- shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will help in anyway I can with basic logistics on my end. If you need the name of any carriers, let me know. This is a charming little runabout. Can't wait to see what the future holds in store. Thanks for your interest!
