Vehicle Detail

For those of you who have seen this bike here before, in addition to what I added above about the non-paying bidders and the registration having expired on May 10, I will mention that I just contacted the previous owner as a result of new questions from prospective bidders and found out that the bike was repossessed in its past and sat unused for a number of years. He is a mechanic and brought it back to life just as a hobby; he never had it registered because of over $700 in back fees where due to California DMV (the repo bank just had it sit all that time; apparently the bike spent all its life in California; usually a good thing...). Also, the bike did not have any fairings and the cost of new fairings and registering it was too were too much for him so he sold it to me. I kept it in operating condition for almost a year prior to finally registering it as of May 2014 by running it on the weekends at a friend's 200 acres ranch until I saved enough money to buy new fairings and register it. So, I registered it last year and used it regularly during that time. I have never had a carburated sports bike before as I am normally the cruiser type and only had fuel injected bikes from the very first time I owned a bike. I still like cruiser bikes better and just bought myself one with the tax refund I just received. Now that registration just expired I either sell this bike if I can get decent money for it, or take it back to my friend's ranch as I live in an apartment building in downtown Oakland and I can barely have one bike parked on the street, let alone two, even if both were registered. One other new comment I am adding to the previous description and which made me decide to sell the bike as "FOR PARTS OR REPAIR" is that a prospective bidder just contacted me last night and told me that as a mechanic he does not think it is right for this bike to only start with a tiny bit of throttle when cold. He says pulling the choke should be enough; well, it is not for the way I ever started this bike when cold--I always have to give it a tiny bit of throttle or it just won't start. Again, I only had fuel injection bikes until I bought this Honda, and my current bike is a 2011 one with fuel injection, so he may or may not be right about that fact. He also called me too verbose, and I am making things even worse now... but I would rather disclose everything I know about this item than set anyone (including myself) up for surprises. Consequently, this bike's auction starts at one penny for a sure sale. In the year and a half of ownership I never got stranded with it and it starts nicely (you just have to finesse the throttle like for any carbureted bike). Other than new fairings, new battery and new rubber, I had a local shop replace the petcock diaphragm as the old one may had been cracked and there was some smell of gasoline or so I thought. Bike had a crummy saddle when I bought it so I bought a cheap one that looked more decent. Saddle has a significant rash and I painted it over so it looks okay and does not absorb rain water. Lately, as this saddle or any other original saddle this age, a couple of hairline cracks have developed. You can definitely ride the bike as is, but if you can afford a newer one, it will make the bike look even better. I am easy on brakes so the existing pads and disks should still last you a while if you are not too aggressive in your riding style. Has carbon fiber exhaust, Yoshimura (aluminum tag has rash, but it works and looks nice still). The only thing you may need to work on as far as I can tell is to have the fairings fit more tightly; it is easier to work with another guy as a helper on such a job. I got most of the screws in place but a few of them I just got tired (was late in the day) and just used tie-ups then never found the time to try again. You may also want to do an oil change (has redline synthetic in it but it has been 6 months already; only a couple of hundred miles worth of riding but mechanics say regardless of miles, come six month the oil and especially the filter needs to be changed. Also, you may want to do a coolant flush. Bike is not overheating so the existing coolant seems to be still doing the job well but I do not know when it was last changed. I just told you everything I know about the bike. It is a 24 year bike, so do not expect cream puff, and as usually sold as-is with no guarantee other the description being as accurate as I can think of. Thanks for your interest in my auction. Now for the NOT SO SMALL PRINT: if you have low feedback and the few items involved are for small amounts, contact me BEFORE bidding or I may cancel your bid. It is both frustrating and expensive to end up with a non-paying bidder. If you are not sure you want this bike, bid on some other bike please. I want an easy, quick and painless transaction. I am also advertising the bike locally so the auction may be ended at any time. I do not ship; either you pick it up or find your shipper of choice (uBid is something I used before and it worked well for me). DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE; I am sick and tired of bidders who win, pay the deposit, then never even respond to my messages and just run to eBay to get a refund via their insurance agency (eBay itself does not give refunds for deposit on vehicles when winning bidder fails to complete the transaction). You can inspect the bike before the auction end (no riding as bike is now in non-operation status--I can demonstrate that it works but again, you do not ride as I do not want to be penalized by DMV). Ask ALL your questions BEFORE you bid ideally, and definitely before end of auction and I will do my best to answer in as much detail as I can. Once the auction ends and you are the winner, there is only payment and shipping arrangement; no remorse, no change of mind, refunds, etc. You win, you pay, you get clear title and the bike. Allow me to say it again: let's not play games with anyone's time please. Those of you who followed the previous listing may have observed I cancelled all bids from bidders with zero or low feedback who more often than not do not take auctioning seriously. If anyone with zero or low feedback intends to bid and win, and get the bike, they MUST contact me first. Failing to do so means I will cancel your bid and block you from further bidding. Yes, I recognize the fact that some of you have to start somewhere, and I am giving you a way to do it properly. Thinking that you can sneak your bid in just for fun is pathetic. Please take your lame games somewhere else.
