2000 Volvo S40 1.9 Turbo107,000 milesThis car has been really good to me for the past couple of years. Very reliable and fun to drive with 160 horsepower. I originally bought this car from a local mechanic to use for work, and would love to keep it, but rarely drive it anymore as I now have access to a work vehicle. The mechanic tells me the code indicates a "slipping 4th gear" and the prognosis was fairly vague. He indicated that a new or functionally used transmission would be in order at some point, but said it could be in the next seven days or the next seven years. Hmmm. Alas, I opted to roll the dice and drive it as usual around town, since without the check engine light on, I would have no idea there was even a problem (the car drives great), and on top of that I rarely get it up into 4th gear anyway.
