Vehicle Detail
'The Dutchman' I purchased this car for my son to learn to drive. It is big, slow and gets poor gas mileage. I figured he couldn't go too fast or too far. It's worked out well but it is apparent engine work is in the near future and I just don't want to do that for a car he won't even be around to drive as he heads off for college. So it is time to let 'The Dutchman' go. He would tell you there is nothing like the vibe you get from cruising El Duthmano down PCH blaring your jams. Ok, I will take his word for it. Condition The interior of this car is in very good shape. The custom leather interior that a previous owner did is nicee. It is a blue with black trim. He also put in a new black headliner and flooring. All of this is in pretty good shape. The power windows work. The power locks work, sometimes. The rear power window works from the dash and the tailgate. We added a locking box as the center console so that you can securely store items. This car has a beachy weathered look. That is to say, the paint is faded and oxidized. Where the surf racks are mounted there are tiny rust spots. The hood doesn't quite close right. There is body damage to the drivers side. It is driveable. The door opens and closes fine. It just has dents and scratches at the bottom of the door. We had new door seals installed as well although direct spray from a car wash will find its way in. The Dutchman prefers to be hand washed. The engine, I was told, was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago. I have my doubts. It is pinging and no doubt needs a new engine. My research on JustAnswer.com via a certified mechanic that specializes in Jeeps says that a new rebuilt is about $3,000. As I said, I don't want to chase it with my kid leaving for college. I'd be selling the vehicle soon anyway. Features Engine & Mechanical & Safetey Fuel inject was added to the engine about a year ago and it starts and runs great. I also had the brakes done and a thorough check for any other mechanical issues. It's pretty clean. We added supplemental back up lights to better illuminate behind the car when reversing. It has the dual benefits of better illumination for the camera and a brighter warning to anyone behind the car. Rather than the original lap belts in the rear, we opted for 4 point safety harnesses. Comfort & Convenience & Custom Prior to our owning the vehicle, all interior seating was redone in custom leather. The drivers seat is power adjustable and that may have been an aftermarket addition as well. There are screens for a rear seat DVD or gaming system, however, we removed the VHS system to which it linked so only the screens remain. The blue anodized wheels are 'sick' or so I have been told. They look great on this car. Since owning the vehicle we have added a new stereo with GPS Navigation, Backup Camera and Bluetooth. (Aux cord also available) These are for comfort and convenience but more importantly, safety. The GPS is currently set to notify you when you exceed the posted speed limit. My son hates it, I love it, you can disable it. The AC works. History Dont know much about History. But I do know that we are not the original owners but we do have clear title. Shipping & Payment I will assist in coordinating shipment but I have no means to arrange it. Payment will be via PayPal, Wire, Cashiers Check. On Apr-23-15 at 11:38:27 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: A mechanic came to examine the Jeep today for a buyer that is coming to see the car later today. His comments were the following: 1) Definitely a rod. Engine needs a rebuild.2) Engine is not the one Ebay says it is - it is an 8 Cylinder 360.3) This is probably the original engine which speaks to its durability at 230,000 miles. 4) The car itself is pretty clean for a 25 year old vehicle. (After looking at undercarriage.)5) These vehicles are desirable. On Apr-23-15 at 11:55:15 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL DETAILS THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS. THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD AS A 'PLANNED NON OP' VEHICLE.This means that the new owner will be required to smog and register the vehicle. I had the vehicle smogged when I first got it and it passed. However, I do not want to be responsible for this process now that I am selling the car. CA requires I smog it to sell it UNLESS it is a PNO registered vehicle.
