Vehicle Detail

Bought this truck in March from a seller in Arkansas (do a search on item 251882279509 to see his initial posting of this same vehicles; I am actually using his pictures--did not have time to take my own as I got stranded in Oklahoma, got sharked out of $250 to be taken the less than 100 miles to OKC airport... overall a very unhappy experience, but having it towed from Arkansas to California would have cost more given that I flew for free on miles), and he described the truck as "will drive where ever u want to go," also as "regular wear and tear" and in general as being a good running truck that just had cosmetic damages but was otherwise road worthy. Picked up the truck in Arkansas, drove it for a couple of hours then got stranded on the side of i-40. Had it towed for almost $200, distance being 13 miles into the nearest larger town (Henryetta, Oklahoma). It was night time when I got there, so more money spent on motel. In the morning, the local Ford dealership diagnosed a couple of codes relating to fuel systems and told me the repairs would cost $2700. I do not have the money to spend on repairing this truck, and I am not a mechanic. So, this truck may still have value for someone who can work on it to repair it and make it usable again. In the interest of being as truthful about the truck as my seller was NOT, I will list my observations based on having driven the truck those couple of hours: the truck ran okay initially but to shift in over drive it does it with a little bit of a grind. Also, I sometimes had trouble finding the first gear, but that might just be me... on flat roads I just started off in 2nd gear and it ran fine. The tires are okay for driving it home, but some of them need to be replaced soon. the platform in the back is nice, but it has an extra tank opening that has no cap and there are dried leaves in there; no more investigation was done. I had the Eugene Vaugn Ford dealership change the oil and fuel filters and put new oil in the truck before I started my short trip. The air filter is good. The odometer is broken but the speedometer and everything else is working okay. All warning lights come on when turning the key and go off once the engine starts except the ABS and the Eugene Vaughn dealer said it might just be a sensor; no more investigation done on that front. The batteries seem older; truck was starting quickly and without effort at the time; it also started up the next morning after I had it towed but was running a bit rough--definitely a sign of fuel problems, but maybe not as bad as the Henryetta Ford dealer wanted to charge me; I guess I was a captive audience to them... I do have the diagnostic paperwork and can send you pictures of it if you ask. I did not try the 4x4 capabilities as I only drove down the freeway. The seat looks ugly but it feels comfortable. The shifter knob comes lose so you need to either drive it like that or replace it with a good one. The mileage I got while driving it (filled up the tank worth of 80 some dollars and it still has about half of it in there, or it had when I left it at the dealer... not sure if they did not siphon off some of it...) was about what you would expect for this class of truck (10 miles to the gallon). The carpet needs to be replaced. The door jamb on the driver side is missing. The windshield is cracked on the entire lower length and will need to be replace. The body needs some minor fixing just as you can see in the picture but can be driven okay as is once you have the fuel system working properly. The one very positive thing about this truck is there is very little surface rust only, so structurally solid and suspension may not need attention for a long time, my opinion... Now I feel that I described the truck the way it should have been described by my seller and to the extent I became aware of the issues. The truck is on the premises of Henryetta Ford and I have clear title to it. Once you pay, I can release the title and arrange for you to take possession of the truck. My loss is your gain, as I am starting the auction with a reserve price of less than half of what I paid for it.
