HARDTOP THIS CAR IS COMMEMORATIVE OF THE OF THE 12 BLACK CONVERTIBLES USED IN 1ST NASCAR BRICKYARD 400 (1994Inaugural year of the Brickyard 400!Twenty -five 1994 corvette convertibles (13 red 12 black) were used as parade or festival cars. The corvettes were mainly used to introduce the 43 NASCAR drivers in a parade lap around the track. Most of them carried two drivers who sat on the deck-lids and waved to fans in the grandstands during the parade lap. In another part of the pre-race festivities the Corvettes would parade VIPs including Richard Petty, Bobby Allison and Indianapolis mayor Goldsmith plus major sponsors around the track. The corvettes were shipped directly from the bowling green assembly plant to the GM tech center in Warren Michigan. It has been confirmed that the Monte Carlos were also sent to the tech center and received 30 horsepower boost. No facts were ever officially disclosed about the modifications made to the corvettes but there are rumors. Two of the corvettes had their Brickyard decals applied at the tech center. The other 23 had them applied by local dealerships. When the cars were delivered to the dealers for sale after the race, many had the decals removed to be sold to the public. As of today there are 24 of these cars remaining. Only 11 have been located with in their original “dress.”On Mar-30-15 at 06:54:38 PDT, seller added the following information: The car also includes a factory service manual, owners manual, single set of keys. While listing indicates top needs replacing there are no leak issues, the top has a small patch and is missing several frame fasteners.
