Vehicle Detail

This 1962 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop has a sweet running 327 Turbo-Fire engine and Power-glide transmission. In my opinion the 62 Impala was the pinnacle of GM design and style. I am going to post lots of photos and write a detailed description of the car, and list my phone number below to ensure you understand what you are bidding on and there are no surprises. Local inspection certainly encouraged. The body looks very clean externally however there are some rust issues underneath. The trunk floor and inner wheel wells are solid but as you move forward under the drivers seat it really needs new floor pans and cross braces. The frame appears to be solid. The rear lower quarters have been replaced. The bottoms of the doors look good. Inner and outer rockers appear OK. As I said this car is a driver and was being regularly driven last summer. The interior has a new headliner. The seats and door trim are in good shape but it needs some finishing. All the window cranks etc are there as well as the radio. Engine is the 327 Turbo-Fire small block Chev with a 4 barrel Quadrajet carb. Look closely at the pics, this engine has valve covers on it that I've never seen before on a small block. They have a unique 'V' shaped top. I was unable to determine if this is the original engine. Perhaps you could help me identify it. It has the Rams Horns exhaust manifolds. Wasn't it nice of GM to tell us what the Front of the air-cleaner was! It also has a spin on oil filter, not the old canister type. Wire wheels need a scrub and the white wall tires have been on there for a while but are fine for driving. Brakes are the original non-power drums and work fine. Overall this is an excellent candidate for a restoration or drive it as-is. Check my feedback and feel free to email or call me, I've never misrepresented an auction. I can deliver the car to you in Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit or anywhere in between for $1.50 per loaded mile and even with gas as 'cheap' as it is I make no money on that because my 8.1 litre Chevy gets about 10mpg. I do insist on a 10% deposit and the delivery cost be paid up front. I have a clear Michigan title all signed off and ready to go. I've had too many auctions spoiled by scammers and this keeps it fair for everyone. Also accepting trade offers. Would really like a 1st Gen Camaro. On Feb-27-15 at 11:34:24 PST, seller added the following information: Took a look at the carb, it seems we have the 250HP version of the 327 here. Thanks for all the info, keep it coming. On Feb-28-15 at 07:54:37 PST, seller added the following information: Hey guys been doing some research with the assistance of some helpful Ebayers. The heads appear to be correct for a 327/250HP engine, they have the triangle casting bump on the front. The number on the front right engine pad is "F083IS" The "I" could be a "T", pretty sure its not a "1". If anyone knows how to decode this drop me a message and I'll post it to the auction. On Feb-28-15 at 08:34:02 PST, seller added the following information: More fun with VIN codes. 2 is the year, 62. 18 means Impala Turbo-Fire V8. 47 means Sport Coupe. J is the plant, Janesvill WI. The rest is the serial number. OK, so I listed this as a 2 Door Hardtop and according to Hagerty there was no such thing in 62. There were a boat load of body styles, Convertible, Hardtop Sedan, Sedan, Sport Coupe, Wagon. It was also possible to have a 2 door sedan. Anyway I thought that was interesting and worth posting! On Feb-28-15 at 11:48:06 PST, seller added the following information: More pics atmy website.;On Feb-28-15 at 11:51:24 PST, seller added the following information: Sorry about that, stupid eBay doesn't allow links.
