I HAVE OWNED THIS TURBO DIESEL FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN VERY FAITHFUL. WHEN I FOUND THE CAR IT HAD AROUND 120,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND WAS ONE OF 4 CARS WE ROTATED DURING SUMMER DRIVING, SHE HAS BEEN GARAGED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER AND WINTERS. THE ENGINE IS STRONG AND SMOOTH, STARTS IMMEDIATELY EVEN IN 20 DEGREES AND HAS PRETTY MUCH ZERO BLOW BY. THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES NICELY, THERE ARE NO STRANGE NOISES IN THE DRIVE TRAIN & THE CAR HAS GOOD POWER. SHE STEERS AND HANDLES NICELY WITH NO WANDERING IN THE STEERING AND !!!!THE AIR CONDITIONING WORKS!!!! THERE IS ONE AREA ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL LIP 2" IN DIAMETER THAT WILL REQUIRE REPAIR...AND ON THE RIGHT REAR ROCKER METAL IS EXPOSED APX. 3" BUT OUTSIDE OF SURFACE CORROSION THERE IS NO RUST HOLE. THE REST OF THE CAR IS SOLID INCLUDING THE UNDER CARRIAGE. THE OTHER ISSUE WOULD BE PAINT ON THE HOOD HAS TO BE REFINISHED. FOR THESE ISSUES I HAVE PUT A LOW RESERVE ON THE CAR...SHE HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR SOME TIME BUT WAS TAKEN OUT THIS FALL. THE CARS INTERIOR IS ALSO IN VERY GOOD REPAIR, IT IS DARK BLUE WITH MATCHING CARPETING AND IS COMPLETELY INTACT. THERE ARE NO HOLES OR DAMAGE IN THE UPHOLSTERY OR CARPETING, THE WOOD VENEER IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION AND THE DOOR CARDS ARE WELL PRESERVED AS WELL. WELL NOT ABSOLUTELY MINT THIS CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS A DEPENDABLE DRIVER. TRYING TO FIND AN OM617 TURBO DIESEL WITH LOW MILES IS GETTING TO BE A VERY DIFFICULT TASK NOW THAT THESE CARS ARE 30 YEARS AND OLDER....HOWEVER THIS ONE HAS JUST 144,000 TOTAL MILES ON IT. OVERALL THE CAR STILL FEELS TIGHT IN THE STEERING, SUSPENSION & THE DRIVE TRAIN. THIS PAST WEEK I HAD THE VALVES SET AND PERFORMED A DIESEL PURGE. I WOULD LIKE THE CAR TO GO TO SOMEONE WHO LOVES AND APPRECIATES THESE OLD MERCEDES.... THE CAR IS FOR SALE BECAUSE I NEED TO MAKE ROOM FOR 2 CARS HOME FROM CALIFORNIA AND I SADLY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH STORAGE FOR EVERYTHING. ENGINE DOES NOT LEAK ENGINE DOES NOT RUN HOT DRIVE TRAIN DOES NOT SLIP NO SHAKING RATTLING DRIPPING SMOKING OR SMELLING CLEAN TITLE SHIFTS NORMALLY UP AND DOWN BRAKES WORK NORMALLY NO HOLES IN ROCKERS NO HOLES IN UNDERBODY NO UNDERBODY ROT THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE AN OM617 DIESEL SHOULD, NOT LIKE A GM DIESEL (A BUCKET OF MARBLES), IT PERFORMS NICELY WITH MINIMAL SMOKE...IF YOU HAVE NOT DRIVEN A DIESEL MERCEDES BEFORE YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED...THE 3 LITER INLINE 5 CYLINDER TURBO DIESEL PRODUCES 120HP AND A HEALTHY TORQUE TO MOVE THIS 4000LB CAR NICELY ENOUGH TO KEEP UP WITH MODERN TRAFFIC AND RETURN 25-28 MPG ROUTINELY. I HAD THE CAR AVERAGE 27MPG TRAVELING TO NEW HAMPSHIRE IN THE SUMMER AT A STEADY 75 MPH...UPHILLS INCLUDED. A FUN TO DRIVE SAFE ECONOMICAL MERCEDES BENZ DIESEL. THE CAR EASILY KEEPS UP WITH MODERN TRAFFIC AND ROUTINELY AVERAGES 25-28 MPG IN A HEAVY, SAFE MERCEDES W126 CHASSIS SEDAN. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO REPEATEDLY POST THIS CAR AND PLAY GAMES, I HAVE TO SELL THIS CAR TO MAKE ROOM FOR 2 OTHERS COMING FROM THE WEST COAST AND THE LAST "BUYER" USED BUY IT NOW TO WIN THE AUCTION THEN CLAIMED HE DIDN'T KNOW THE CAR WAS SO FAR AWAY.
