Sold new at Ojai Ford, it stayed local in Southern California until 2005, when it was sold to an experienced car builder in WA state. At that time the wagon was brought up a level with a mechanical overhaul, complete front end rebuild featuring disc brakes and 2" drop spindles, plus a complete interior restoration. This car runs and drives excellent and is ready to travel any amount of distance in comfort and style. Finished in its original color of Raven Black, this wagon definitely has eye appeal. The paint is driver quality, The Dinoc sides have been redone and look very nice with good application and panel to panel match. Being a California wagon it's very solid. The only areas of filler found are down low on the front rockers, however there are no areas with bubbling or blistering of the paint anywhere on the wagon. All of the sheet metal is original, floor pans included, and the typical problems areas at the tailgate and inside rear quarters are both excellent. Tires are Diamondback radials with good tread, the '57 Lancer wheel covers are in perfect shape. As you can see, this wagon has a terrific stance, thanks to the 2" drop spindles in the front and re-worked leafs in the back. The glass is in good shape overall with minor scratches here and there, notably on the windshield. Both bumpers have been rechromed and look great. The dataplate decodes as: VIN: H= 352 4V, R= San Jose, Y= Country Squire BODY: 71G= Country Squire 9 Pass Wagon COLOR: A= Raven Black TRIM: 46= Red/White vinyl interior DATE: 15G= July 15th, 1959 TRANS: 4= Cruise-O-Matic The interior was taken down to a bare shell, every piece of metal trim was stripped and powdercoated. This includes the garnish moldings, seat frames, hardware, entire dashboard and steering column - it all looks brand new. All seats were reupholstered with material from SMS, the fit and finish is first rate. You may have noticed that the interior was upgraded to the Galaxie trim style, an altogether more interesting looking pattern than the somewhat plain stock interior on the Country Squires. The wagon has an all new carpet set with sound deadening underlayment. The top rails of the rear seats were rechromed. The wagon has seatbelts for 9. Clean cargo area with one of the best tailgate gutters I've seen. Dash presents very well, all instruments are working except for the clock and the temp gauge. Infrared readings of the radiator hoses on several occasions and see readings of 160F consistently. The steering wheel has no cracks or spidering, there are a few touched in paint chips, overall very nice. The shifter linkage could be tighter and should be adjusted at some point. The Town & Country auto-seek radio works perfectly and has good sound. Heater, fan and plenums work correctly. This was an A/C optioned car, the interior plumbing is intact, the condenser and compressor were removed from the engine bay but are included. The car features a very well built custom console with machined cup holders, 12V sockets and ashtrays. It does not appear that the car has been smoked in. Galaxie style door panels, all in excellent condition. Well done headliner. New window cranks and handles, new window sweeps and gaskets, including the vent window seals. All windows wind smoothly. The 352 4V Intercepter runs strong and provides a good amount of power. Upgrades include an Edelbrock Performer Plus camshaft, Holley 4160 Carb with electric choke, new valvetrain components, new timing set and new Carter fuel pump. A new Edelbrock Performer Plus intake was installed, it has been port matched and powdercoated black. A Pertronix Ignitor and coil have been added, the power steering has been upgraded to a Borgeson unit, starter has been rebuilt and new exhaust manifold gaskets installed. The disc brake package that was installed includes a new master cylinder, brake booster and proportioning valve. The work continued down to the undercarriage where all new front end components were installed. This included new A-arms, ball joints, idler arm, center link, bushings, custom springs, KYB shocks, along with the disc brake kit and drop spindles. Lastly, a massive sway bar was installed. The car steers and stops great. The wagon's exhaust was replaced from the engine back, it has a great sound. New U-joints were installed. The rear leafs were de-arched, rebuilt and an extra leaf added. Gabriel air shocks were installed. The rear end has new bearings and seals. The car has a very heavy duty trailer hitch, wired through two 30amp circuit breakers and along with electronic tow brake controller installed. All of these receipts are contained in a giant 3 ring binder, along with much ephemera that includes vintage Ford marketing literature, and magazine article clippings specific to the 1959 Ford. Also includes CoverCraft Noah Car Cover
