Vehicle Detail

1956 GMC Suburban Carrier Titled as a 1956 GMC, it's an original numbers matching 270cu.in., 6cyl with a 3sp column shift Flame Red with a Bombay Ivory cab band and the same inside the cab and bed Interior is done in original fabric including the seat, headliner, & door panels. It has the original radio although it no longer works. Steering wheel is in the normal two-tone red/white paint. The speedometer says 85,854 but unknown acutal. Now that I've done all the hard stuff, the only thing needed now is the engine compartment. Shy of a different dist., spark plug wires, coil, and the oil bath air cleaner (I cannot find), I think the engine is mostly original. It runs very smooth and the speedometer will top out at 85mph running about 2700rpms and I still have plenty of throttle left. The truck is equipped with the optional 307 rear-end gearing. Or as the ad said in 1956, "A remarkable new fast-ratio cruising axle in light-duty GMC's actually gives you an over~ drive's pace and economy without its cost." This truck is original down to the parking lenses. With every truck on the market today, these lenses have all been replaced with white or clear ones. This truck has the original lenses; you just don't find these on trucks today. If you're not familiar with these trucks: From the GM Heritage Center, The Suburban Carrier was GMC version of the Chevrolet Cameo pickup. It was first known as the "Town and Country". Styling was virtually unchanged from 1955 and features sleek sides, unique tail lights and a panoramic windshield. The truck features fiberglass fenders attached to a steel cargo box with a hidden spare tire compartment. GMC produced the Suburban from 1955 through 1957 with total production at 631 (according to the Cameo Suburban Carrier Club). "GMC was positioned a step above Chevrolet, and ads touted it as 'Top of the Light-Duty Class.' The new -for -1955 GMC styling was billed as 'Blue Chip Design' and the prestige model was the very special 'Suburban' pickup." Truck is for sale locally so I may have to end the auction early. If you have questions or need additional, specific pictures send me an email with your phone number and I'll call you back. Thank you for considering my truck for your collection.
