Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a 1964 Mark I, “pull-handle” MGB roadster. Its car number is GHN 3L 36615. This car number, stamped on the aluminum id plate, matches the one stamped on the lower right chassis member. The body number is 35650. These show a manufacture date of about April, 1964. The car has the 18GA engine that is correct for mid-1964. The car is not running, but its engine turns over easily by hand. The car rolls and steers. The original transmission shifts smoothly through all 5 gears. The pictures show that the body is straight and undamaged. It shows no sign of ever having been wrecked. The car has its original-style fold-away top frame and some of its interior. Like all of the 5 Mark I MGBs I’ve owned, this one is rusty in the rocker panels, inner side panels, and floors. The pictures show this damage, which is about average for these cars. The trunk of the car is solid, with only minor surface rust, and even the two battery boxes are in pretty good shape. Unlike other rusty Mark I MGBs, this one comes with all of the new sheet metal needed to repair it. These are new MGB replacement panels that have never been cut, welded, or attached to a car. They have light surface rust, but they are solid and are guaranteed not to have any serious rust. They include the right and left rocker panels, inner panels, side members, sills, and floors. If you purchased these new parts today, they would cost more than $1,000, plus shipping. I’ve used the same part names as the catalog of a major supplier, so check the prices there. This car is an excellent restoration project if you want an increasingly rare pull-handle Mark I MGB at an affordable price. NOTE THAT THIS CAR HAS NO TITLE. IT IS SOLD WITH A NOTARIZED BILL OF SALE. Ebay has no option for this under title information.
