Vehicle Detail

1984 Carrera 3.2 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, US ROW model, 930/21 3.2 Engine, 915/68 gear box, VIN: WP0EB0916ES170953, 148K miles. Factory original Guards Red 911 Cabriolet. Highlights: Guards Red, Black Cabriolet top, Black leather interior with very desirable Sports Seats and RARE 15 inch original Fusch wheels, well maintained. Total Production: only 1,191 for the U.S. Market. This is the quintessential 80’s 911 in the perfect color combination of Guards Red exterior, black German cloth top and black leather interior. This car has been a garage kept casual driver with its current owner for many years. I have known this car since 2005 and tracked its upgrades with the current owner. Here are a few highlights of some of the more important (and expensive!) upgrades any 3.2 owner would look for in a well maintained driver: 2008: New Convertible top & Window, new headliner, & cables ($2,200). Currently, top is in like new condition with no tears, discernable wear.2010: Driver sport seat beautifully reupholstered in factory pattern in the thick, supple leather notable from this era ($1,372). Matches the passenger seat nicely, very comfortable and has that “German leather smell” (some of you will recognize this smell!)2012: COMPLETE rebuild of the 915 5-speed gear box and clutch service (total rebuild, clutch and engine service, $9,215!). Engine out rebuild with new synchros, gear set, clutch kit, plugs, fuel filter, valve cover gaskets, plug wire set, plugs, belts, distributor cap set, oil sender, oil thermostat, gear oil & motor oil and wheel alignment. Gear shifting this car is not like other 100K mile 915 boxes….it glides in and out all gears wonderfully! Purists know what I mean.Other recent services include tires, brakes, turn signal lever recent oil / filter change (over $1,800, not including the above).Interior: Sport Seats(!), new Porsche Logo mats, fold down rear seats, Blaupunkt (non-original) radio), all gauges / equipment work, fine dash and door panels.Paint / body: Good condition. While quite presentable up close, it’s not a perfect show queen. This is a driver and paint shows a little fade, but presents well. A few small dings with the only golf ball size dent next to the drivers handle. All dings and the one dent can easily be removed by a quality paintless dent repair guy and they are all very accessible from behind. A little rust bubbling showing through passenger door inner sill, below door striker, but not distracting or material. No rust on outside body panels.Engine: As noted above, recent service, engine has been maintained well, regular oil changes, idles and accelerates well. This car should be considered at “half-life” knowing the robust nature of these engines. No exhaust leaks, minor oil drips as seen in these years (nothing major) with recent plugs, gaskets, belts and tune. NO smoke at start up, idle or acceleration. Strong runner. ’84 has factory Carrera Tensioners.Suspension: Tracks straight & true, no drifting, rattles, or issues. Discs / pads good with newer tires.Glass: All glass presents well. Rear plastic window recently replaced and clear.Interior: Rare and lovely black sport seats, black fold down rear seats, good door panels, pockets, all gauges & heat functioning (and AC), nice 3 spoke factory leather covered wheel in great shape with good stitching. Presents well and is comfortable.Currently PA Inspected.Sale Process: $500 PayPal Deposit within 3 days of Auction end. Balance due within 2 weeks via Bank Wire Transfer or as agreed. Title in Hand. Car garaged locally and can be seen by appointment only. Title will be certified mailed AFTER funds clear. I can recommend white glove enclosed carrier shipper if needed for long distance shipping. Please call 610.527.1832 to discuss the vehicle (ideally between 8-11pm EST). Receipts for aforementioned service will be provided along with original manuals in sale.
