Vehicle Detail

1977 FORD F-250 4X4 460ci big block (D1VE) rebuilt/installed 3 years ago. Built for low-rpm torque and man is it a beast! High lift/short duration/low LSA cam, 600 cfm Edelbrock carb / performer intake, stock exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust into 2 chamber Flowmasters. Passed Colorado emissions with flying colors (way below limits) this past summer when I renewed my 5 year collector plates. Obviously, I was not planning to sell. NP-435 4-spd. , Dana 44/60 w 4.10 gearing, disc brakes, power steering. NO RUST – ANYWHERE. ALL METAL. New professional 2-stage paint job in the original FORD “Bright Red” (October 2014). Front and rear glass were removed prior. New windshield and rear slider (with new gaskets) installed after paint. Also installed new door weather-stripping, cowl seal, tailgate bumpers and diamond plate bedrails. Complete set of upper body-side moldings (with hardware and in good condition), will be included with sale. I like the way the molding looks, but all that kind of stuff tends to trap mud/crap and cause rust, so I did not re-install it. I’ll post a pic of the trim within a few days. Per the VIN code, this is one of the first several hundred mid-77 “Low Boys”, which means it got myriad upgrades, but lost that stout “High Boy” suspension (and the primitive open knuckle front axle). Uniquely, this truck maintains the divorced NP205 transfer case, which was typically found only in the pre-1977.5 High Boys. So, to compensate for the feeble front springs, a 2” front suspension lift (add-a-leaf) and new Rancho 5000 shocks were installed last week. IMO, it now has the perfect stance and footprint. I’ve noticed it has a stiffer ride and doesn’t lean when cornering. The alignment is good and the truck tracks straight - doesn’t pull to either side. Brand new BF Goodrich 295/75R16 (33.4” tall x 11.6” wide) All-Terrains. Mounted spare included. With the 4.10 gearing, I wanted taller tires to make it more freeway friendly. Will run 75 all day long, comfortably, but is still a mean stump-puller in in that granny low gear. New 38 gallon single rear tank. This is just simpler, and it improves rear wheel traction in snow. All the plumbing and wiring were left intact for the side-mount tank and the dual-tank switch on the dash is a great security feature (flip the tank switch and the truck will run out of gas in about 2 blocks). Bed was removed for painting, so I removed the old fuel tanks, sandblasted the frame and coated it with Chassis Saver (like POR15), installed the new fuel tank / sending unit and re-routed the dual exhaust around the bigger tank. Decent original interior with decent sounding CD player system. Dash has 2 small cracks in it, but no swelling (can see in video below). No rips in seat, clean headliner/visors and all gauges/flashers are working. Doors could use new window felt but cranks and wind-wings are all working. Carpet is not badly worn – no holes etc. E-brake is fully functional. Dome light, heater and fan controls all work. I didn’t even get around to cleaning the interior before taking pics. You can still see the circles from the installer’s suction cups on the front windshield in the video. I’ll try to get some better interior pics on here in a couple days. Starts every time without hesitation (new Interstate battery last year, as I recall). Runs and drives smooth, shifts effortlessly. No weird noises or fluid leaks. Everything works (hi/lo beams, flashers, marker lights, horn, heater, wipers, brake and back-up lights) . No issues whatsoever. Disclaimers: 1.) You may notice in the video below that the gas gauge is not working. This is a simple issue and the gauge will be functioning properly before the truck is delivered to buyer. 2.) Please keep in mind that this is a 38 year old truck. It’s rust-free, very straight, and I get compliments on it almost everywhere I go, but it is not perfect. IMO, ALL cars look better in photos. I’ve tried to photograph from various angles, but bear in mind there are small dents and imperfections that may not show in the photos. That being said, it’s a very respectable driver, built to WORK, and will probably need nothing for years to come. Vehicle history: Per VIN code, it was assembled at the San Jose. CA. plant. I am the 3rd owner. Per P.O., truck was in central CA until 2001, then Cheyenne, Wyoming, and now Fort Collins, Colorado. It is original (color, transmission, axles etc.), with the exception of the bigger/badder motor : ) About the seller: This has been my shop truck. I’ve been building and/or restoring vintage American cars/trucks for over 30 years - early Ford Broncos mostly (thus the username rockstar-stallions). Please review my feedback and know that this vehicle is exactly as described. Just over the past 15 years on eBay, I’ve built and sold dozens of classic muscle cars and trucks that have shipped all over the world, mostly in the US but as far away as New Zealand, all with 100% feedback and never a sour deal. If you click on any of the photos below, it will take you to my Photobucket page where you can see some of my other projects in “my bucket”. Enjoy the photos and video below. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll try to get right back to you. Thanks for visiting : ) I shot this video on an iPhone while driving (I know, I’m a BAD person). It’s a little jumpy, but you can hear it run/drive: Get your own valid XHTML YouTube embed code
