Vehicle Detail

Nice, Southwestern, stock, complete, original, great running and driving 1968 Ford F250 Ranger XLT Highboy 4X4. I decoded the VIN and learned this truck was built at the Ford plant in San Jose, CA in August of 1968 and ordered through the Los Angeles, CA Ford region. It's a Ranger Highboy (divorced transfer case 4X4) which was the top-of-the-line model in 1968. But I've never seen such an interesting option combo. It has power brakes but no power steering (still steers easily) and 3 speed on the tree manual transmission as opposed to a 4 speed on the floor or auto. Since the Ranger model was at the top, these features (or lack of) must have been special-ordered. Plus it has a Frigiking under dash AC unit installed. This Highboy is awesome mechanically. It was driven regularly until 2011 and then parked. I put in a new battery, flushed out the fuel tank, installed new fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel filter and rebuilt the carb. She started right up and I've driven her all over the neighborhood with no problems. Engine is the original 360cid V8 running through a 3 speed manual to the Dana Model 24 divorced transfer case. Axles are Dana 44 in the front and Dana 60 in the rear. Locking hubs and 4X4 system work great. Tires have good tread but are starting to crack. The entire drivetrain is a very bulletproof combo and needs nothing. And it's all stock other than headers and a dual turbo muffler exhaust system. The interior is in very good, original condition as well. All gauges, switches, buttons and knobs still work properly. Even the cigarette lighter and bed light still work! Both heater fan and FrigiKing AC fan work but AC compressor is not hooked up. Dash is original with no cutting or butchery of any kind. Some chipped paint is visible next to the right edge of radio delete cover plate (see pics). The only items missing are drivers door weatherstripping, arm rests and interior ceiling light cover (easy stuff to find online). Headliner is still in place, seat needs upholstery, and windows roll up and down properly. The body is a mixed bag but really is in pretty good overall shape. Floorboards are great but passenger side kick panel has some rust as does passenger side inner fender below battery box. Cab corners are excellent. I have many undercarriage pics available. There is evidence of prior repair work above the windshield. The front of the bed floor has suffered but it's easily repairable with patch panels. Dual saddle gas tanks are installed under bed but not hooked up. Paint is original two-tone with some spray can touch up. All exterior trim is in place other than one piece missing on driver side bed (see pics). This is an awesome top-of-the-line F250 Ranger Highboy. It's stock, original, complete and the running gear is in great shape. The cosmetic repairs are simple. And if you are in a dry climate you may not want to even worry about them. I hope it ends up in the hands of someone who will either restore it or enjoy it in its nicely patina'd present condition. Just my two cents. My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of pictures that show every nook and cranny in great detail. Send me your email address and I'll get them to you. This sweet Highboy is located in the dry, desert community of St. George, Utah (a little over 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Thank you very much for your interest. On Nov-02-14 at 12:53:50 PST, seller added the following information: Next bid breaks the Reserve. Good luck and good bidding.
