Vehicle Detail

MicrosoftInternetExplorer402DocumentNotSpecified7.8Normal0I purchased this camper in 1983 from my dad. He bought it in 1980 when there was 67k miles on it. It came from that seller with the 8-track stereo installed. The engine ran fine but he wanted a "new" engine so he decided to rebuild it. I don't remember too much of that because it was his project and I was concerned with other things being only 18years old. What I do remember is that he was set on everything being original. The factory pistons had to be ordered from Germany because he didn't want the high compression pistons everyone sold. He rebuilt the engine in our basement and I helped him carry it up the stairs and install it. He then took it to Chicago to some place to have the air conditioning installed. Those were the only modifications done. The air worked great only for a year or so. There was some light and not very well done bodywork done on the bottom of the sliding door and around 89 I took the compressor out so it would tax the engine less. Around that time the heater duct control valves were rusted out so I replaced them with some flexible tubes so the heat would blow straight in. Since it came to the family the fridge never really worked great and worked less and less till it became just an insulated storage box. During my time I drove it daily for about five years, then parked it. In 94 I began driving it daily again after replacing the CV boots and joints. A year later I parked it again. This was because I was too lazy to fix the oil leak it had developed on the oil cooler. It's been parked for the past 19yrs. I've started it up a handful of times since and haven't at all in the past 5yrs. It's always an ordeal dealing with the battery and gas. From the time it came into the family it's always been a great bus. Always dependable. Always started. Never let me down. Never in an accident. The original mosquito net that covers the back hatch is included. I forgot to include it in the photos. The tear in the canvas and the separation of the zipper as seen in the photo happened recently when I popped it up for photos. I suspect from sitting all these years. I changed the oil religiously, adjusted the valves maybe three times and changed the plugs, rotor and filters when needed. No other work was ever done to it. A non-refundable $500 deposit must be paid within 24 hours of auction end. The remaining paid in cash within a week at the time of pickup. Clean title in hand.
