Vehicle Detail
1999 Chevrolet "Mark III" Conversion Van. This was my dad's van that he drove daily until a couple years ago. He loved these workhorse Astros and had many of them throughout the years. This was his favorite because it was so nice to travel in. Van has been sitting for a couple years, no insurance or tag so it has been driven very little. Needs a real good cleaning and a "going over" and would make a great vehicle.Don't need it and prob never will so it's time to let it go to a new owner to use or enjoy and not rot. Van has the wood trim and lighting, and the VHS/Entertainment systems of the Mark III package in the back. This stuff was hardly ever used as my parents used it for birding tripsand had eyes glued outside the van. Seats fold down in the back so you can sleep on them on camping trips and such. The Good (lots of receipts, Van was serviced at a drop of the hat (any squeak, whine, whistle, vibration lol) Owner was Chevy employee....--newer crate engine installed that only has +/- 40k on it. --all body panels are original.--air conditioning/heating cores and parts installed at 85k --new alternator installed ($205) at 121k miles --I remember a fuel pump that was VERY expensive ($700) --Interior is in real good condition (see pictures).--bunch of other receipts for various items throughout the life of this van.--I have all the original paperwork (Mark III booklet, equipment booklets, tire warranty, the works!) See last pic.--has trailer hitch and stuff, Dad did tow a small trailer with refinished chairs with a friend.--Custom interior/windows/seats are great and in real good condition. Other Astros don't have these interiors/windows/etc.--Great looking van if cleaned up and detailed.--Nice homemade storage box between the seats. The Bad:-Van has been sitting for over two years, needs to be driven. I can't really elaborate (as I can't drive it around) but we can go for a short ride up the road when you pick up.--there is some rubbing damage to rear bumper cover--fiberglass roof has some sizeable dents and dings (top of tree fell on van 3 years ago, no bodywork or paint was done. No leaks or anything like that). See pics.--most likely will need new battery.--van needs good cleaning, and wax. I just knocked the dirt off of it, as I didn't know if the new owner would use it for a work van or a travel vehicle.--carpet has stains, may come out? Rust stains down behind the back seat prob won't.... I started the bidding low to get some interest...good luck with the bidding! On Oct-25-14 at 16:25:10 PDT, seller added the following information: **Update 10-25-2014** Uploaded some more pictures so interested parties can see the various dings/dents/scrapes/tears. Uploaded pics of front seat as well per request. Please do not request that I end this auction early, if you are willing to pay $4k for this van then bid $4k on the van, I will not end early as no one wants that to happen to them while bidding on something. I honestly did not expect this much attention, maybe the low starting price is a good idea--thanks again and good luck with the auction. On Oct-26-14 at 14:05:41 PDT, seller added the following information: **Update 10/26/14**Upon repeated requests to crank the van and drive it I did so. Battery was put on the charger and charged to 100% last night. Battery was still good this afternoon and cranked up. Van ran very rough at first (always been cold natured) but this was pretty rough like it was missing. Let it run for 10 minutes or so and it seemed to clear up. Took it for a short drive and it had some serious hesitation problems at first but after driving it for 5 minutes or so it all went away and actually ran quite well! Brakes sounded horrible at first but that pretty much went away too except for some chatter. Tested all the windows, turn signals, lights and such and everything (mood lighting, power seats, reading lamps, rear fans/AC/ radio works except I couldn't get the TV to come on or radio speaker to play. It prob works but I can't figure out all the buttons (probably a mute button). You may need to use the remote to turn on the TV which is in the van but most likely dead batteries.Back wiper is deteriorated away, remember not to turn it on without holding it away from the glass if you purchase this van. Hope this helps with any questions. I still would bring a dolly or haul the van if you are any distance away, it can for sure be driven a short distance to the transport if needed. I have to be safe and say I would get the brakes/cooling/oil/transmission checked over first before heading out into the wild blue yonder!
