Vehicle Detail
Firstly, I have 2600 positive feedbacks & 1 negative. My actual rating is 99.9 % Positive Feedback. Crazy that eBay allows one problem buyer in 13 years to drop your rating so much. I guess all you can do is continue to ship fast and give great customer service? Secondly, I am depending on this money to pay my mortgage this month. If you can't pick the car up within 2 days from the end of the auction, please don't bid unless you can send $500 right away through paypal.I also have to pay my eBay fees. I sold my guitar & amp to buy a used scooter to replace this car. I bought this car 9 years ago on eBay for $5000. When I picked it up, I was surprised to see what great shape it was in at the time.I missed a bus connection & didn't get the car until well after Midnight.I loved the first cruise home on empty roads & I named her The Night Train. I had a steady source for quantities of clean fryer oil & I wanted a diesel so I could make free fuel. After instantly falling in love with the car, I scrapped that plan & only wanted to give her the best fuel I could find.I didn't really need to save fuel money anyway, I lived 4 miles from where I worked and I had a very nice motorcycle I liked to ride.I also had a company pickup truck that I used half the time. The car had about 195,000 miles when I bought it.I put very few miles on until I started looking for a mobile home on an acre of land 7 years ago. After finding my acre here, I went back to putting very few miles on the car.I work from home & severe sensitivity to tobacco smoke drove me into being a hermit years ago.The odometer stopped working about 4 years ago. It read about 205k miles at the time.I visit the grocery store about every 2 weeks. It is 10 miles away.During bad months I have gone as long as 35 days without making a grocery run.I estimate my usage to be under 100 miles a month. Current estimated mileage on the car is 210,000 miles. The speedometer & the tachometer DO work. Google crushed my search ranking for my little guitar pick business a couple of years ago.Losing my 100% rating on eBay 6 months ago also hurt my sales. It is kinda obvious that this car is far too grand for my current sub-poverty level situation. She is showing her age more than when I bought her but I still love her.I hope to be in the position someday to buy another 300SDL. When I bought the car, the dash light for the ABS system would come on when you first hit the brakes.I like standard power brakes & wasn't really interested in fixing the ABS.The power antenna soon stopped working & I had it replaced by the best local shop.I later found a certified Mercedes Benz mechanic on Big Pine Key. He couldn't find anything to fix when he went over the car other than changing the filters, which the new gas filter helped it to shift sooner. The car has a removable Class II hitch installed. You can rent a trailer from U-Haul for about $15. I just rented one. They checked my electrical connection & it worked finebut when they hooked up their trailer, it blew the dedicated in-line fuse. It sounds like the trailer had a short but I don't know for sure. The lights and turn signals are working, even the vanity mirror lights. The sunroof opens and closes fine. Headliner is fine.Cruise control works great. Since my finances took a dive, I have been scared that I wouldn't be able to afford to fix any future car problems. The car has never stranded me but it needs TLC.I scraped the oil pan on one of those concrete slabs at the end of a parking spot.I patched it with JB Weld. The A/C began to stop working until I turned-off & restarted the car.I stopped trying to use it about a year ago and I just crack the windows. The radio fade switch seems to have corrosion. You can hear it crackling when you try to adjust it.The radio also fades out now, replaced by static, a few minutes after turning it on.The driver's door panel is pulling away from the center of the trim near the top. I have bought 3 new Uniroyal tires over the last few years. They all still have lots of tread, due to my limited driving. The last tire I bought was a used tire. It has lots of tread but it is a non-matching Goodyear & it seems to add a very slight shimmy at about 55 mph.The shimmy disappears again at 60mph.The car recently began vibrating while idling. The steering wheel will shake. It stops when you give it a little gasand the engine seems to run fine after that. The RPM's say about 600. I can't figure out how to raise the idle speed. The wood around the shifter is cracked. The rest of the veneer is fine. There are some cracks starting on the dashboard. I built up the mouth of the radiator with a little galvanized steel & JB Weld. When the pressure builds, some water is still escaping from the clamp / hose area.I'm going to add a second clamp to see if it seals it better.I've been using about a pint of water during my 20 mile grocery round trip. The leather is showing the most wear on the driver's seat & armrest. The rear driver's side door won't open. The window slipped off its track after that but you can still hear the mechanism going up & down. The plastic lenses next to the headlights are badly cracked. I think a replacement set can be found on eBay for only about $100.The rear lenses are fine. I replaced one of them I bought the Mercedes-Benz Technical Companion & the 2 CD Service Manual Library but I'm not much of a wrencher so it was like giving a calculator to a chimpanzee. I've got a cheap camera. It doesn't show the general age & flaws very wellbut I took a lot of photos to the best of my ability. Thanks so much for looking and please remember, do NOT bid if you can't get at least enough money to me in 48 hours to pay my mortgage! On Oct-24-14 at 16:16:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: Today I finally used the Leatherique on the front seats that I bought a long time ago.The stuff costs $90!I applied the rejuvenator oil. Tomorrow I'll finish the process with the cleaner. I forgot to mention that you have to jiggle the key to start this car.Once you get the knack, it takes 3 seconds to do it. Here is a photo of the clean Florida title, in my name.
