Vehicle Detail

1934 Ford canopy Express- Rare commercial vehicle used by farmers, markets and the like. Kind of a cross between a Ford pickup and a Ford woodie. The first picture is of the exact truck fully assembled. So the cab is fully enclosed with roll up windows and the same wooden woodie type roof goes from the windshield to the tailgate. The sides of the bed are easy access and there are snaps for the roll up sides which would keep the goods dry. Similar to a peddler's wagon or a Huckster body. These were made special order thru the local dealer. So this example has been stored for a few decades and is ready for a new lease on life. It is a V8 truck and although the engine is gone, the Flathead motors are easy to find. Or maybe a small block Chevy would suit you better. The transmission and rear end and radiator are original. The chassis itself is in great shape with only surface rust and structurally sound. These were not high mileage vehicles due to local deliveries on work days. The front sheet metal (hood, cowl, fenders, grille) is in excellent shape. In fact it is the straightest truck grille I have seen. There are no patches in the cowl or front fenders. The running boards and bed sides are also very nice. The rear fenders can use a little TLC. The roof structure survived miraculously and can be re-used as is with just a new covering. It rolls easily and will be consolidated for transport on my end. An original restoration- a hot-rod, street-rod or maybe build it as a roadster pickup( they share the same cowl and dash). It is up to you. Certainly you will have something different than all the usual cookie cutter variety. And..... it won't break the bank. The parts alone are worth more than my asking price. Call with any questions. (860) 913-4680
