Vehicle Detail
This is a BEAUTIFUL car!!! And when you're driving in it, that's what you'll hear everyone saying as you go by. I love this car! With the original numbers matching 440 HP motor, 727 automatic, & 8-3/4 rear end (with 3.23's) you're getting the ultimate muscle car set up for the highway. It will put a grin on your face every time you hit the throttle! This has been restored with great care. It is a TRUE R/T car and comes with the original motor and transmission. Please note that the original motor and transmission are not in the car at this time! I have another 440, which has been extremely modified, and another 727, which was also rebuilt, in the car now. These items are NOT included in the price of the car but can be included for an additional price. I will provide more details on these items below. I chose to remove the originals so as not to potentially damage them, or succumb to stupidity and modify these sacred items which are so important in maintaining the value and character of the car. Real R/T's are becoming more & more rare. Don't miss this legend of muscle cars, the car that started it all: the NASCAR speed records explosion, Bullitt, Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry, The Dukes of Hazzard, Fast 'n Furious, not to mention appearances in Christine and Blade. This car has curves every generation loves, even those who like Chevy's! I've been stopped by countless Chevy people who have said they are diehards but have to admit this is one of the most beautiful cars they've ever seen! I purchased this car in 2007. It needed a lot of work but the motor and transmission were original and very solid. The (mostly) original QQ1 paint was terribly faded and it even had a 69 stripe on it. I had never actually seen QQ1 before so I didn't know how it would look if I went with it again but considering the car was nearly completely original I felt obligated to stick with the original color. I had no idea it was so beautiful! I drove the car for one summer before garaging it for about a year. Then, we pulled it into my friend's body shop and he started the 3-1/2 year process of restoring it. To get to the technical stuff, we replaced the drivers side fender, the fender splash shields, both rear quarters, both outer wheel houses, the drivers side front floor pan, the gas tank, the quarter extention panels, the rear bumper support, the trunk floor, and the rear valance panel and valance end caps with replacement panels. The car looked good from 20 feet but she needed a severe facelift. Inside I replaced all the carpet, installed a new headliner, recovered the seats, replaced the scuffed up kick panels, installed new trunk divider and package tray panel. Electrically I purchased a new dash harness, rebuilt and re-faced the guages, and replaced several of the light bulbs with LED's. Underneath, we sent the power steering unit and pump to Firm Feel and had them rebuild them to their Stage II specs. I also purchased all new control arms from them, offset bushings, and poly bushings all around. Now there is no body roll and it handles like a dream! I also replaced the shocks all around, throwing the old air shocks in the garbage! Brand new leaf springs and shackles also. The bumpers have been re-chromed and I chose to go with Billet Vintiques 17" and 18" Magnum 500's all around; 17x7's up front and 18x9.5 in the back. I wanted to maintain the original style but fill those huge wells a little more. With the addition of the extremely aggressive looking Goodyear G-Force tires I think it really worked well. The original engine and transmission performed EXTREMELY well. When I decided to replace them I placed them in storage for safe keeping. The original intake and carb were not on the car when I bought it. They were replaced with a high rise and an OLD 800 double-pumper. I have since acquired a numbers matching intake and carb. The car had been converted to electronic ignition by someone who had just learned what electrical tape was. I have replaced the entire engine harness and kept the electronic ignition present. However, the harness was properly fabricated for this arrangement. I have also added a Rev-N-nator ignition box built by my friend Troy over at the R/T Garage. The motor currently sitting under the hood is my little torque monster. With the addition of a 440 Source 512" stroker kit and their aluminum Stealth heads, along with a custom built "FAST" series racing cam designed by Porter Racing Heads in VT, this motor screams out over 575 ft/lbs of torque with the stock HP manifolds on it; 650 with headers! The compression ration is just about 10.75:1. Other additions to the motor are the Street Dominator intake and 950 Proform Double Pumper carb (instant whiplash throttle response included), jet hot "chrome" coated original HP manifolds, Comp Cams roller rockers and hydraulic lifters, ARP studs on the bottom end and bolts on the heads, a girdle and windage tray, as well as a 7 qt oil pan with deep sump pick up, high volume oil pump, carter high volume mechanical fuel pump, and high volume water pump. 3" TTI X-Pipe exhaust run from the manifolds back. I also have a set of TTI 2" headers for it, which are completely interchangeable with the current exhaust with the purchase of the adapter direct from TTI. Also added is a Griffen Thermal dual core aluminum radiator to keep this beast cool. The 727 tranny was rebuilt with a B&M shift kit, new Kevlar clutches and bands, new bushings, seals, rings, and heavy duty springs. I also removed the softening springs and replaced the sprag. The converter is a 3000 stall, essentially a duplicate of the hemi converters. If the modified 440 isn't purchased as well, everything necessary for the original set up will be painted and re-installed into the car as necessary within 1 week of auction close. However, the original carb will need to be rebuilt so a 650/750 Holley will sit in its place. If the current engine is purchased as well then it will be provided as is, and the remaining original items will accompany you back shipped loose. I have receipts for nearly everything and the entire restoration was well documented. Do yourself a favor, Christmas isn't far away, be the best friend you ever had and buy the gift you've always wanted.
