Vehicle Detail
Hello, We bought this car new though it had been a demo for a short period. Otherwise it was very difficult to find a Prius at that time. There was a long waiting period to order one. It has required very little maintenance. We have faithfully changed the oil, which was almost always done by our local Toyota dealer. As far as I know t has had all recall services performed. The interior is still in very nice shape and we just had it detailed. On the outside, there are various minor dings and scratches, some bumper scrapes and bumps and there is a small dent in the rear left quarter. This should all be clear in the photos. We added the OEM Toyota 6-CD changer. Everything works except the cruise-control indicator is burned-out. Cruise control works fine but you can't tell from looking at the dash if it is on. The car runs, drives and stops great. It rides comfortably. The window seals are still in good shape so there's no unusual wind noise. We still get great gas mileage - mid to high 40s. There's a decent set of WeatherTech mats. The original mats are included too. There's been very little to fix. We had to replace the accelerator pedal assembly because the sensor wore-out. Also, I replaced the front brake pads because they had come loose from the backing plates. They weren't much worn-down but just came apart from age. If you drive conservatively there is very little brake wear due to the regenerative braking that charges the battery. The ball joints were replaced at about 135k miles. Two of the tires still have a good bit of tread, a third is OK and the fourth is worn to the markers We rotate the tires regularly so I can't tell why one wore faster than the others. They are 4 years old and fave 40k miles on them. In addition to the original donut spare tire, there is an extra full-size wheel with a decent tire on it. I dented one of the rims and just replaced it with a used one. Although dented, it holds the tire and runs fine. It seems to make a fine spare. We're only selling because after 13 years my wife wanted a new car. The other continues to work although the battery is weak. After the original battery went dead (it lasted many years), I bought a batch of replacement batteries. They are now several years old. I now replace the battery periodically and it doesn't last very long. I think that those replacement batteries were inferior to start with since they didn't last a really long time even when new. I sill have the broken one. I don't think that it can be easily fixed. It appears that you can buy an OEM replacement at AutoZone for $156. I thought that I'd seen generic replacements there for much less but I have not looked into that. The actual keys work fine. We usually just use one of the keys to unlock the doors and trunk. Starting the car is conventional (unlike the second gen. Prius): you insert and turn the key. So, it's not a problem if the key fob battery is dead. There's also a third "valet" key that doesn't open the trunk. It seems a bit silly since you can open the trunk with a lever inside the car. So, there are 3 working keys. I'v been receiving inquiries about overseas shipping. It's difficult to understand why anyone would want to do this. I don't know why it's not already clear but the listing indicates that the car is sold for local pickup only. If you want to buy the car and ship it yourself to anywhere in the world, that makes no difference to me. If you pay for the car then it's yours to do with it as you please but any shipping will be your responsibility. I will of course cooperate with any shipping contractor for pickup. This will require, however, require a secure exchange of payment for the car at the time of pickup. Ideally, the buyer should inspect the car in person. thanks, CalebOn Oct-10-14 at 23:01:11 PDT, seller added the following information: It turns out that it's possible that both keyless entry remotes can work. I have them both apart but I don't have the correct-sized battery. I have a CR2032 that I can press against the contact and this way they will both unlock the car. This battery is physicall too large to fit into the fob. I''m not certain but the correct battery may be CR2016 but I don't seem to have a good battery in that size.I see that this company:keylessentryremotefob . com sells remotes for pretty low price too.
