This is a 1984 VW Rabbit Diesel that was converted to run on waste vegetable oil or diesel. It runs and drives great except that there is a problem in reverse. It probably needs a new reverse (idler) gear. I would just find a used tranny (4A tranny code) on CL or Ebay for $50-100 and swap them out since this will be less work and probably be cheaper unless you own tools to tear down a tranny. This car has had the following done in the recent past: new battery, alternator, head gasket, shift linkage, 2 new front axles with innner and outer CV joints, brakes, tires and some other work. It starts right up even after sitting for several weeks and drives great except in reverse. I was going to fix the body up a little and use it as a commuter car but am starting a business and really dont have the time (it's 5th in line of my project cars).It needs: tranny fixed, someone gave it a crappy paint job so you might want to MAACO it, various rust spots creeping through (mostly superficial, rockers are good, strut towers good, floors good except for one small hole), hand brake does not work (grabs but the handle doesn't lock up), one outside door handle needs adjustment, I would flush the WVO system before using it. I'm not sure how long the WVO has been in there. I can probably get you 20-30 gallons of very clean WVO too. The odometer says 54000 but it does not appear to work so the true mileage is unknown. Clean MA title says 999,999 miles (that's what they give you if the odo is incorrect)
