1963 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 MKII Roadster!!!! The new Austin-Healey went into production in 1953 and was immediately popular in the U.S. These cars were well-styled, inexpensive, rugged and above all easy to drive, for both the sports car enthusiast who fancied some light competition or just for tooling down to the shops. The early four-cylinder cars were superseded by a six-cylinder model in 1957, appropriately named the 100/Six, and these stayed in production until 1959 when the engine was enlarged to 2,912 cc, hence the name Austin-Healey 3000. These were more powerful and faster, equipped with front disc brakes, and soon gave rise to the legend of the Big Healey. Introduced in March 1961, the 3000 Mark II came with three SU HS4 carburettors and an improved camshaft, designated the BT7 Mark II (2+2 seat version) and BN7 Mark II (2-seat version). However, upon the introduction of the BJ7 (2+2 seats) model in January 1962, the number of carburettors was reduced to two, (SU type HS6) because of the problems experienced with balancing three. As a result of the introduction of the BJ7, the BN7 Mark II was discontinued in March 1962, and the BT7 Mark II followed in June 1962. Externally, the main changes introduced with the BJ7 were a vertical barred front grille, wind-up windows rather than side curtains, an improved hood, and a wrap-around windscreen. Optional extras were similar to the Mark I, although the option of a factory hardtop was not available from the BJ7's introduction. From August 1961 a brake servo was also available as an optional extra, which greatly improved braking performance. The BJ7 was discontinued in October 1963 with the introduction of the 3000 Mark III. The Austin Healey 3000 was one of the most successful family sports cars of its generation, winning rallies around the globe. The 3000 is all part of the hairy chested big brute Healey saga, and it is exactly what a classic British roadster is supposed to be: A simple sports car with great performance, beautiful styling, and a fantastic history to back it all up. According to its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, this beauty was born between March 7 and 8 of 1963. It was born as Ivory White Color, over Red Interior, and Black Convertible Top. It is a numbers matching car, all backed up by its Heritage Trust Certificate! Even the key is original, and matches the Certificate!!!! It was dispatched on March 13, 1963 to Overseas Motor Corporation in Fort Worth Texas. It was sold and titled as 1964. This beautiful British roadster will need total restoration, and it is perfect candidate for it! A total of only 6,113 BJ7’s were produced from January 1962 to October 1963, and this beauty is one of them!!
