Vehicle Detail
1967 Mercury Park Lane. California black plate. This is the top of the line model that comes with Marauder package and power features including front disc brakes, power windows, seats, side turn signals and Marauder 410 engine. 63,000 original miles. Original owner bought it in Los Angeles where it lived until he parked it to fix rear end. He died shortly thereafter and it sat in garage since 1980. I am the second owner and have gone through the car mechanically. It runs and rides great and has a quick response with a nice mild rumble to it. Interior is original and in great condition. Paint is original and looks better in pictures. Exterior body has lots of little dings and paint scratches through out. From 5' away the paint looks great. Up front you will see all the dings/scratches. Keep in mind this is a 47 year old car so there will be imperfections and flaws to the vehicle. Advertised power was 330HP. The exhaust system i installed woke it up a little. You won't see too many of these cars around. Only 2,196 were made in hardtop in 1967 410 FE motorFactory 4 piston front disc brakes with drums in backReplaced front brake pads, powdercoated calipers silver, new caliper seals, resurfaced front rotors, NORS master cylinder, made up all new custom brake lines to match original aside from run from master cylinder to passenger side port. Power windows, power seats, power steering FPA Shorty Headers (coated) with new 2 1/2" exhaust and Magnaflow mufflersNew rear end gears (i think 3.73) which gives it a quick pick up from dead startNew- water pump, radiator hoses, heater hoses, rubber fuel line portion from where stainless line ends, all rubber hoses under hood, plugs, spark plug wires, Pertonix ignition and coil, starter solenoid, 180 degree thermostatCustom built copper core radiator to match factory (only this one weighs a solid 40+lbs).- Temp runs cool in heat and with a/c runningCustom built condenser and refreshed dryer, custom made all factory a/c lines to match original appearancecustom made all new power steering lines to match original looka/c recharged with original R12. Blows ice coldNew Eaton Detroit front springs lowered 1 1/2" (I still have originals and only lowered front to give a better stance as first set of factory height replacements appeared to sit up too high) Rear springs are still factory originals.Replaced all front suspension parts including New KYB Gas adjust shocks at all 4 corners, PST- upper/lower ball joints, sway bar bushings, idler arm, pitman arm, outer tie rods, inner tie rod ends, tie rod adjusting sleeve, upper/lower control arm bushings, center link and all suspension rubber pieces i didn't mentionReplaced rear main seal, transmission pan seal/filter, Rear axle seals, New Boyd's 17" chrome wheels with new 245/45/17 tires at all 4 cornersI powdercoated virtually every part under the hood back to the original black finish including all suspension parts, sway bar, inner fender wells, oil pan, timing cover, valve covers, fan blade, and miscellaneous parts (powdercoating isn't cheap anymore)New Scott Drake autolite dry cell battery (looks like factory original). This is not a cover but actual battery that sells for about $300.Old oil pan had strange plug on side of it (still have it) so I replaced pan and gasket. While I had it out I added a melling oil pump and shaft and timing set (to replace the factory original plastic version). I still have the original parts as nothing was wrong with them but figured i would replace while I had it opened up. Old pan was nice and clean with no engine shavings.New Holley 4 barrel carburetor (still have original autolite but think original owner had replaced it once)New carter fuel pump and NOS Oil Filter mountPowermaster 70amp alternator (still have original)New Autometer gauges- water, oil, voltageNew Restrosound bluetooth radio designed to go into factory hole with USB output and new speakers all around (have original stereo and speakers)Spare tire and jack (jack was from another 67 Mercury and spare was the original front tire/wheel as it didn't come with a spareNOS head light wiring harness ($250 cost)NOS turn signal switch installedNOS Heater core installedNOS Radio antennaGas tank was cleaned outall new fluids through out including rear endI just had a front alignment done and it is now dialed in on specs known issues- I took care of all oil leaks except one- Small amount of oil leaking from back of intake. Will need to pull intake and reseal it.Small Passenger side exhaust leak where header meets head.Paint is not as good as it looks in pictures. As mentioned earlier there are a lot of little dings/nicks and paint scratches- gives it some characterNOS clock installed and worked but then stopped. Might need better ground or new connection (have original clock)Two small holes in front bumper. Original owner apparently liked to put his fishing boat into the lake using this car as it drove forward and previously had a tow hitch rigged up in front as well as backmoved rearview mirror from the middle of windshield to the top where it belongs but left some bubbles where old glue was that I couldn't get off.Passenger side interior pull handle has a crack in material, steering wheel chrome trim ring inside big center hub is cracked as well as steering wheel, water drop stains on driver side door panelRust- Along seam in trunk pan (see pic below)
