You are bidding on a very fun 1963 AMC Rambler American 440 convertible. "Candy Cane" as she is known is a fantastic driving little car. Starts right up everytime and goes down the road just as you would want. Easy to drive, stops good, steers good, no odd noises, just a fun old Rambler. My dad and I rebuilt this car with every intention of keeping it for a long time and we did everything as best as we could. It has a smooth running, professionally rebuilt 195 inline 6 cylinder engine, new clutch, nice shifting 3 speed manual transmission with the very rare twin stick Overdrive option. Car is very economical and literally sips the gas. It also has complete new brakes, lines, and master. We painted the car ourselves about 5 years ago and although it is not a show finish is not bad for a couple of guys in a garage. Again not a show car or finish but not bad as you can see from the pics. We also installed a new top on the car, also not show fit and finish but not bad. It is a power top but we didn't hook it up, we just lower it manually, all the parts are there to make it power. Lights, horn, brake lights, turn signal, heater, all work as they should. The speedometer cable starting making noise a few months ago so we unhooked it. The odometer shows 99,xxx but it is a 5 digit speedo so true miles are unknown to us but we believe it to be original. The car was bought new and stayed in the Sacramento area its whole life, no rust issues what so ever. We are basically the 2nd owner. It is a black plate CA car. Chrome on the car is good, not great. Like I said, not a show car by any means but the car is very presentable. We have driven the car countless miles and to many shows. It gets a ton of attention. Everyone seems to smile when they see it and share their favorite Rambler story. Color combination can't be beat and the car sits on newer tires. I even have the original keys. It also has a fairly new battery. It doesn't have any strange habits or run hot. Very fun and reliable old car. Comes with 2 sets of hub caps. The car has roll up windows and they are all in good shape I just didn't put them up in any of the pics. A few dents here and there and a scratch now and again. Look at the pics and see for yourself. I bet this ol Rambler will put a smile of your face too! Like I said, we never intended on selling Candy Cane but my dad's garage space is full and something has to go.
