1971 Porsche 911E Targa, 5 speed. Washington DC area, daily driver from 1971 until 1986 when it was parked for non-mechanical reasons, sold and stored in a garage in High Point, NC to a family member. Was sold to me in 2003 as a restoration project that was never started, making me the 3rd owner. Matching numbers, all original. Exterior body- 15 years of adverse winter weather conditions in the DC area has resulted in some surface rust in areas that trapped water, some areas worst than others. Small dent above wheel opening on right rear quarter panel, small dent on left rear quarter panel behind wheel opening(see photos). Floor pans in very good condition, doors, trunk lid, engine hood, and fuel lid close very good. This is the original factory paint and color. Interior- Seats in fair condition (driver's seat back and bottom need to be refastened together), carpet removed due to dry rot. Dash, gauges, all the glass, and other interior trim in good condition. Drivetrain- engine will rotate through by hand, but I have never tried to start it. Transmission shifts through entire shift pattern. Clutch and brake pedal assembly sticking and needs to be lubricated General overview- Even with some exterior body issues this is very solid vehicle and will make an excellent restoration project.
