Vehicle Detail
The vehicle for sale is a REFURBISHED 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air Parkwood 4dr Station Wagon 8-cyl. 283cid/170hp 2bbl. It fits Hagerty condition 3. Estimated value of $11, 524 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air Parkwood 4dr Station Wagon 85,700 total miles V8, 283 Cu In. 3 Speed Std transmission Refurbished completely approx 6 years ago, always kept in garage. Original trim All original 1960 Chevy parts except for updated radio/player/speakers Completely rebuilt engine less than 2,000 miles, runs on unleaded Complete new upholstery during refurbishment, New paint when refurbished, original color: Cascade Green New brake drums, shoes and cylinders when refurbished 5 New Tires when refurbished All glass in good shape, new windshield New Starter, approximately 2 years ago New Heavy Duty Clutch within past year New exhaust system, when refurbished. New drive shaft bearing within past year New sealed beam head lights Turn signals, wipers function Note: This Wagon did not come with back-up lights originally. When factory equiped, they were separate lights mounted on the back bumper. The second tail light (redundant) was converted to a back-up light. The wire harness was in place and the slot for the switch was also there. The maintenance manuals, extra carpet, red taillight lens and other miscellaneous parts will go with the vehicle. The wagon runs as it did back in the 60s. It will run on the highway at 70 mph, however, because it weighs approximately 4000 lbs, it is not a stellar MPG performer. Also, the rear differential is geared down in order to have the torque necessary to serve as a load bearing Station Wagon which affects the MPG. ISSUES 1. Recently, the brakes seem to pull to the right. Inspection of drums and shoes did not indicate any problem. When drums/shoes were new, there was a “break in” period for shoes to adjust to drum, perhaps still going on. Seems better driving today. 2. Small exhaust leak around butterfly valve 3. Improper sending unit in gas tank. Should be a 40 ohm unit, it is a 30 ohm unit. Unable to find the 40 ohm unit. Result: When tank is full, indication is ¾. 4. Floor pans have rust, covered over with metal.
