This is one of the best looking and maintained versions of the classic Mercedes Benz W123 chassis that I have ever seen. It was a absolute top-spec car that was special ordered with rare options and and even rarer color combination. I have owned many rare Mercedes, but until I purchased this car, I had never seen one like this. In my opinion, this is one of the best looking Mercedes built in the 1970s & 1980s. It has clean classic lines with pillarless coupe style. This is made even better with the clean Euro flush headlights, and the classic Mercedes hubcaps and steel wheels. In the late 1970s, The Diesel Mercedes were the car everyone wanted. Fuel efficient, Well built, stylish. A true Jet-Setters car worthy of a TWA executive. This example is a one owner car. The owner was head of maintnence for TWA and that attention to detail really shows in this car. This rare car has been kept in top shape for 37 years due to through maintenence. The original owner purchased the car for his wife and took advantage of the European delivery option. They picked the car up at the factory and took the car on a European vacation before shipping it back to Thousand Oaks CA. The records are meticulous on this car from a hand written log of all oil changes, maintenence, and exterior waxes to momentos such as european maps and hotel note pads from their trip. Cosmetically as you can see, It is in wonderful condition. Its finished in the very rare special order paint color of Inca Red. According to my research, only 658 Mercedes were painted in this color, and of those only 8 were 300CD Coupes. Thats right, ONLY 8 300CD COUPES WERE PRODUCED IN INCA RED. From the moment I saw the color, I knew why they ordered it this way. In my opinion, it is one of the most striking color combinations I have seen on any Mercedes of the period. Even better, condition wise, the paint still holds a great shine and is virtually unmarked. It was repainted a few years back professionally and it shows. Inside, its much the same story. It has always kept clean and tidy. The interior is nearly 100% original and still in excellent condition. The interior is a rare light beige. The seats and panels are in excellent condition. It was special ordered with Burl walnut trim which remains in excellent condition and has not been redone. Also it was special ordered with a rare top of the line Becker Mexico. This option alone was a very expensive add on. It had a top of the line Cassette player along with a "wonderbar" seek button on top. It was also ordered with the new automatic climate control system which was the top of the line A/C and Heat system. (this has just recently been serviced) Mechanically, it is in great shape. Just take a look at the log showing years of exact, right on time oil changes, services etc. It is extremely rare to find a car with this type of maintence done and catalogued. The engine starts perfectly everytime, and runs very well with no smoke etc. The transmission shifts just like it should as well. It has been recently serviced is ready to go. If you are looking for one of the most stylish and well built Classic Mercedes for a reasonable price, this could very well be the car for you.
