FOR SALE- 1971 Opel GT - The Good - The Bad and the Ugly The Good- formally a California car, it has been a south Texas car since 2000. I replaced the engine with a rebuilt in 2009 ( it has about 3000 miles on it ). The lights have been rewired . It was re- painted from orange to Porsche red in 2007. Starts good ( idles @ 900rmp ) runs good. Electronic Pertronix in the distributor, Otto start to save the ignition switch. Weber carb with K& N air filter system. My daily driver to work for the past 5 years ( 8 miles - one way). All the door locks and gas cap lock work although I have different keys for each. The original seats under the seat covers are in pretty good shape. One small hole on the passenger's side and a small split seam on the driver's side. The back storage area has been redone. Side speaker for the radio and 6x9 speakers for the IPod input and amplifier. The glass is good all around but there is some fogging around the front windshield. All the lights work and the headlights flip easily- H4 headlight upgrade. Pop out side windows. I am also including the many spare parts that I have collected for the car. It has a clear title. The Bad- Homemade roof liner- not original but it works and doesn't look too bad. Original owner did some creative wiring - I fixed some of it but there is still some to go. The alternator gauge needs to be replaced but I am including several used ones that work. The clock works when it wants to but not all the time- there is a replacement clock in the parts. The heater fan is not working ( Who needs a heater in Houston anyway) I have a replacement in my parts. Rust- The belly pan has some rust but the battery platform is still intact. There is the start of rust in one spot on the front bumper and rust on one of the rear bumper ( I have two rust free back bumper replacements in the parts ) There are several stress cracks in the paint on the very front of the nose (see pictures- paint cracks) and a door ding on the front driver side ( see picture- door ding) The battery is still holding a charge but needs to be replaced ( 6-7 years old). The dash looks like a cracked desert so I carpeted it over. The Ugly- the brakes are almost gone. It will need a brake job all around and possibly replace the brake booster ( one is included in the parts. Its supposed to be good but needs to be tested. Replacement boosters and most parts are available at OpelGTSource in California. Parts- All the parts in the photos come with the car. Per Ebay-I can only have 24 pictures for the listing.
