I am offering my 1942 Chevy pickup for bids with a fair reserve. This truck was last on the road in 1955 and since then it has been sitting in a building here in upstate New York until I had purchased it from the gentleman who is in his 80's He said it was his fathers truck and they use to deliver milk in it when he was a kid. With this being said I decided right away to just leave the original body and paint alone being it had character. What I did to the truck was make it more user friendly. I had put the body on a late model S10 chassis. The truck now has a S10 manual steering box, modern suspension with dropped spindles and disc brakes in the front and a posi rear with modern drum brakes. The drive line is a 1979 Chevy 350 c.i. with 4 bolt mains and a mild cam. It has a Weiand intake, 4 Barrel Edelbrock carb and finned aluminum dress up kit valve covers, air cleaner and an original Cal custom finned aluminum oil pan. The trans is a TH350 with a Lokar tall shift floor shifter. The exhaust is stock manifolds The wheels are original 1942 Chevy truck wheels that are wrapped with bias ply tires 6.00x16 up front and 6.50x16 in the rear they are fitted to the S10 with aluminum adapters allowing the truck to use the 6 lug original wheels. This truck is a sleeper and fools a lot of people especially when they hear the dual Flowmaster mufflers out the back. It has good getty up to it. The interior has been wood grained by me the dash, back panel and door panels. The seat is the original seat covered with a Mexican style blanket. The Steering wheel and column are the original one to the truck. I tried to keep this thing as original looking as I could. The box was shortened 6 inches as well as the running boards in order to get the body to fit the chassis. This worked out well because the truck actually had a 6 foot 6 inch box and now it has a 6 foot box and esthetically looks better than it did originally. The bed of the box is just old barn wood that was fit to the box and the trap door in the back of the box is where the battery is located. this truck "DOES NOT" have any seat belts, blinkers or radio in it at all. I am however looking into installing blinkers The bad things about the truck It will need a electric windshield wiper set up. I have a new headliner for it but I have not installed it yet and I think it will need valve seals as it has just recently started to puff some smoke on start up but goes right away The motor was done about five years ago and sat on my engine stand for the past three years before I decided to use it and the truck has only been driven a little bit for the past two years since I built it. The good things are that this thing glides down the road even with the bias ply tires and will smoke the tires all day long if you wanted. The truck travels great and does not heat up it has a new 32 Ford style aluminum radiator with a Iroc Z electric fan cooling it down and an external trans cooler. I have had the truck up to the Syracuse Nationals the past two years and many local cruise ins it always seems to draw people to it. I had just recently lettered the truck up to resemble a vintage Sinclair service truck. Please email me and if I think of anything else I will post it. The window cranks in and out very easy as well as both doors they have the original glass in them and they also roll up and down with ease. The back glass is also original and is cracked but I left it in.
