Vehicle Detail
****THIS CAR IS A 1986 MODEL BUT EBAY DOES NOT TAKE EURO VIN PAST 1980****This is one of the Very rare and highly collectable Mercedes Benz 190 2.3-16 valve Cosworth cars built by Mercedes to homologate the race version of this car to compete in the European Touring car races. Mercedes was building a BMW M3 Competitor and turned to the British race car tuner Cosworth to build it. The result was this car which shared the 190 body but little else. The engine was highly modified with a new head and completely new internals and put out 185hp in Euro Spec (THIS IS A EURO SPEC CAR). It has the exact same dogleg Getrag transmission as the BMW M3 as well. The body has an improved body kit from the factory which lowers the drag coefficient to .32. And the interior is highly modified with 4 bolstered leather seats. This car also has Euro headlights since it was originally delivered overseas, and also wears some later AMG Monoblock wheels. While all 2.3-16 Cosworth cars are very rare to begin with, this car is even more rare. Its the Euro version which is quite a bit different than the US version. It has the higher compression, higher horsepower engine, manual transmission (Most US cars were Automatic) the better bumpers, Headlights, and is pearl black where most US cars were smoke silver, a champagne color. Very few of this spec car come up for sale. and even fewer in this condition. This car is in excellent cosmetic condition, and runs and drives well. However be advised, it just was pulled out of storage after laying dormant for several years in a garage, and may need some fine tuning and TLC before it is used regularly again. Weve not had the car serviced since it was traded in, but have driven the car, and have not noted any signifigant problems. It runs well, drives well, shifts well and stops well. Some small items are not working such as the aftermarket stereo system, and the A/C will need a recharge. If you are looking for a truly rare and desirable Mercedes at a bargain price, this could be an amazing car for the right Enthusiast.
