Vehicle Detail
I bought this bike a few months ago and fell in love with motorcycling powering this beauty down country roads. I'm planning on stepping up to something that is more interstate-able to do some traveling. Because of it's age and because it's not a museum bike, I recommend this bike to someone who knows a lot about motorcycles. - Matching numbers - Freshly rebuilt engine (Approx 6 months ago by D&D Cycles in Pensacola) - Beautiful shifting and clutch action - Low miles - Light & agile bike. (320 lb, 40 HP) - Turns heads at every red light & sounds amazing - "Cafe" seat and handlebars. Comes with the original handlebars too. Here's what you wouldn't be told if you were buying this from someone else: - It will get about a 6" diameter circle of oil on your garage floor after a ride. I'm including a new primary chaincase gasket that will help. - With the best I've been able to adjust the carbs, the sparks plug still foul around every 100 miles. A good shop could probably re-jet the carb or otherwise fix this problem. I usually carry an extra plug just in case. - The fork and front fender are a little misaligned. A shop might be able to fix that too. - There are some gas stains on the tank. With the dark color they aren't too visible from a distance. - It's just got a kickstarter. There was no electric start on these bikes. And there is no choke, so you prime (a lot) with a button on the carb. I've always gotten it started, even in the winter. It just takes some patience sometimes. If you prime it enough she usually fires up without a fuss. - The tach is a little "sticky". It indicates about 600 rpm when off. It shows general rpm but bounces around a bit. It can definitely be repaired. The speedo works great! - After riding I notice a small amount of oil coming from the junction of the head and block on one side of the engine. You may want to plane the cylinder head.
