For Auction is a very unique, and well built Custom Fiberglass Roadster. The reserve has been lowered from the first auction. It is built on a 1974 VW convertible, and is titled as such. It is a custom hard figerglass body shell mounted on a VW chassis and powertrain. The windshield and vent windows are MGB as is the convertible top. The complete powertrain including suspension, engine, transmission, etc., are VW. The person who originally had this car built designed everything including the hideaway headlights, swing away steering wheel, and the design features of the car. The original wooden block which was carved into the design used will go with the car. I am certain the car cost a lot of money to build. Unlike most kit cars, this one appears much more solid. The doors close with a solid clunk, just like those on a solid metal sedan. The swing away steering wheel works just like the vintage T-Bird wheels, and the hideaway headlights were well designed and work perfectly. All the lights work (including the interior lights with the doors), the wipers work, the dual horns are loud (not like a VW), and the radio and speedometer work. There is a storage compartment between the seats. The car was built several years ago, but appears to have been garaged a lot of the time, and is in excellent condition. There is some fading on the seats, but they are not torn or splitting at the seams. The paint is shiny all over, with the exception of one small area on top, just behind the convertible roof, and 2 or 3 minor fiberglass bubbles. This car, like most VW's, should be reliable and economical to drive, and easy to fix if anything goes wrong. It causes a stir wherever I drive with it. People are always asking if they can take pictures. You will have a lot of fun and create great memories if you take this one to some car shows. The last show I went to, there were more people around this one than the Musclecars and Classic Cars at the show ! The car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time! I will also assist any buyers out of state, or out of the Country, with any shipping arrangements necessary. If you don't like lots of attention, then this is not the car for you.
