Vehicle Detail
We have decided to sell our cute little 1961 Nash Metropolitan Coupe. My wife and I have loved and enjoyed this car, but we just dont drive it enough and would like to see it go to a good home. Actually, his name is Morris-after all most Met owners name their cars! The title for the car says 1961 as it was customary to title the car in the year it was sold, not when it was made. According to the Vin tag Morris was built in September of 1959 so it was probably meant for the 1960 model year. He has all the latest goodies since he was nearly the last year these cars were built, including larger 1500 cc motor and an actual truck you can open to put things in, which was not the case for the earlier cars. After looking for a long time, we found an original California car that belonged to one family for quite a long time, and was kept in covered storage in the last several years. When we found him, he was in good original condition but we wanted to give him a nice face lift and make him fit to drive. He was professionally painted his original colour Berkshire Green and white, and was partially dissasembled. We also had the hydraulics rebuilt as well as the brakes and added a new battery. A few engine gaskets were also replaced. The headlining was done and a few pieces of trim that were either missing or in not so good condition were replaced. The rest of the car is pretty much original. The interior had been done previously-probably several years ago and is still in very good condition with no rips or tears in the upholstery. The carpet is also in good condition. The tires were replaced several years ago and have excellent tread. I believe they were probably replace around the time he went into hibernation. He starts right up, the engine runs well with no smoking, and he shifts and drives just as he should. The only items that could be addressed if you are looking for a few things to tinker with would be to fix the driver window to operate without a little extra "push" and to adjust the hood , as the body shop didnt quite get it lined up when the put him back together- its really a two person job so I havent been able to get to it. The gas gauge needs a tap once in awhile to operate. I will attempt to sort that out shortly. He still has the original radio, which is still working-however it was disconnected when he was converted to negative ground to allow fitment of a modern alternator which has been great for reliablility. For you purists out there, the radio can be converted to work with the negative ground system. Morris is a turn key car that you can hop right in and drive away, and can easily be taken to the next level if you are interested in taking it to shows- although he is certainly nice enough for any local car show you may want to take hime to. You will be gaurenteed to get lots of smiles. He comes with owners handbook, extra keys, and alot of love ! International bidders are welcome! Inspections are welcome but need to be carried out prior to the end of auction. Payment details are outlined below. Thats about all I can think of. We hope Morris can go to a good home to continue getting the love and attention he deserves. Thanks for looking!
