Vehicle Detail

This is a 1964 number matching Corvette Stingray. Options are leather seats, rear defroster, back-up lamps and AM-FM radio. I have owned this car and drove it regularly since 2009. It is a very nice driver which looks great. There are newer brake lines, replaced wheel bearings, excellent exhaust and brakes, perfectly rebuilt and detailed original carb and just an all-around well preserved car. Last fall, I heard a knock in the motor. The motor did not fail; as a precaution I pulled over and flat-bedded the car home to ensure no further damage was done. After pulling the valve cover I found the #8 rocker arm was worn as well as the corresponding valve stem. I drained the oil and found traces of metal in the oil. I pulled both heads and found only normal wear in all cylinders. The worn rocker and valve caused friction between the cam and lifter. I decided to rebuild the motor and removed it. Right now the motor is on the hoist in my garage. The disassembly was very organized and all parts are in marked bags or boxes. This is a larger job than I am interested in doing if I can sell it. I am trying to sell the car at a fair price rather than go thru the process of rebuilding and reassembling. I have a large family and a very busy job and the time just isn't available. The car has been very well maintained and is an excellent all-original driver. If this car interests you feel free to email me with any questions you have. The photos were taken last fall right before I started diagnosing the noise. I am willing to sell this car as it is for only a fair price. The reserve is my absolute bottom line. The block stamp reads "410076". The VIN is 40837 s 100766. I have included photos of the VIN and Trim Tag etchings. I couldn't quite get a good focus on the tags so I traced them. If you want to own a numbers matching car this may be the one for you. Build the engine the way you would like it and enjoy an awesome midyear car for less than you would pay for any other numbers matching car. On Jun-23-14 at 03:16:08 PDT, seller added the following information: The dash is all original and still has the working am-fm radio it was made with. The clock works but the sweep gets caught on the stem. Turn signals and all lights work well except the right rear which I am having a problem with. The headlight doors are perfectly aligned and work flawlessly. Speedometer works, odometer does not work. Tach works. All gauges except the fuel gauge work properly. Fuel gauge works intermittently. Transmission works perfectly but since the motor is currently out the clutch should be replaced without question as I do not know how many miles or how much wear the clutch has. This car has manual steering which could use the steering box to be rebuilt due to the amount of play in the wheel. This car also has a new battery. On Jun-23-14 at 03:22:17 PDT, seller added the following information: The paint is the original saddle color but has been re-painted prior to me owning the car. I would estimate the paint is 20 years old. It still shines and presents very well as you can tell from the photos I have posted but it isn't by any means perfect with chips and some crazing as you can imagine in a Corvette. The wheels and hubcaps are original to the car and are in excellent condition. There is a black stripe on the car which was put on prior to me purchasing the car. It is vinyl, not paint and can be removed. On Jun-28-14 at 17:24:23 PDT, seller added the following information: For those wondering; The block stamp is as follows (suffix) F0826RC (vin derivative) 4100766. Although it is in the original ad, here is the VIN: 40837S100766. I just cant get the camera to get a clear picture of that stamping. I apologize, but I just cant get my camera to get a clear photo of the stamping. I am responsible for this ad and I assure you I stand by the numbers.
