If you have always wanted two own a sports car and a luxury sedan but could only afford one, this BMW 745LI is perfect for you. With the push of a button (sport EDC) it will completely transform the vehicle by stiffening the shock absorbers, increase the steering feel, and boosting the active roll stabilizers (ARS). The transmission has a sport mode or you can switch it to full manual mode via steering wheel pushbuttons. If left in manual mode you can even start out in third gear (complete driver control for icy conditions) Switch EDC back to Normal and you have you smooth riding luxury cruiser again. It truly is like two different vehicles in one. As you can tell from the mileage this BMW excels on the highway. It was designed for the Autobahn and the highway is where it has spent most of its life visiting family on the west coast. This is the ideal highway cruiser since it is able to transport 4 adults in supreme comfort. No one will be calling shotgun since there isn’t a bad seat, the rear seats are heated, cooled and recline able just like the fronts, although both fronts feature massage function. There are individually powered rear curtains for added privacy or shading. Even the driver will have a relaxing time eating up the miles with the use of adaptive cruise. Basically the driver can set a fixed distance to the vehicle in front in which the BMW will accelerate and brake itself in order to maintain that distance or set speed. This BMW is the epitome of luxury, in fact every options you have to pay a huge premium for in price and gas mpg penalty to get in the flagship 12 cylinder 760LI is found in this more fuel efficient 745LI V8 model. Soft close doors, an air conditioned center storage compartment are a few of the nice touches. One other item which sets this apart from basic 7 series is the air-ride rear suspension, (optioned with EDC) which will maintain a superior ride independent of the loading. Everything works. The only exception is the driver side cat which occasionally triggers a below threshold efficiency light. It is not bad and will reset sometimes but since it has not affected gas mileage I never addressed the issue (25mpg on the highway). Rockauto has converters for $350 or $160 if you send your old one in, also there is a TPM light on. Other than that the vehicle drives like a dream. It is truly one of the most pleasurable vehicle I have ever owned. It has Centric Rotors and Akebono Ceramic pads all around, Led angel eyes and KN filters. Everything else is stock.
