Vehicle Detail

1921 Packard 116 Single Six Touring This car was one of three cars in the "Vintage Class" at the 2013 Amelia Island Concourse! 1921 was the first year for the Single-Six, Packard's small car. It was built in Detroit, Michigan from 1920 -1922. the total production was 8,800, including touring, roadster, sedan and coupes. The price for this car was $3,640.Sporting a 241.6 cubic inch 6-cylinder engine that produces a rated 52 horsepower at 2400 rpm, the engine was very innovative and had the highest horsepower per pound of any automobile engine of the time. The aluminum body was built by Pullman Co.This car has the original 1921 interior with the exception of the front seat bottom, which was redone in the late 70's.Other features unique to this car are an engine-driven air pump, foot warmer, Packard spotlight, period driving lights, cigar lighter, top boot, period Weed bumper and spare tire cover. The car took part in the 1999 Packard Centennial celebration in Warren, OhioIt was also shown at the MeadowBrook Hall Concours de Elegance ...1985 thru 1988. I have the original all weather curtains with original but cracked and yellowed Isinglass. The car has mechanical rear wheel brakes. Additional notes:I have taken this car on several tours. I have records back into the late 1970's to date. I have maintenance logs similar to aircraft logs since 1992. The car is an absolute joy to drive. Our family has enjoyed the fun and fellowship of touring with friends. We have averaged 317 miles per year since purchase. I hate to sell but need to do so. Prior to Amelia in 2013 I went through much of the car to "get it ready". New tires, wheels, Running-board covers,Stewart Vacuum tank rebuilt, pulled fuel tank and repaired/cleaned/painted Plus re-do on the radiator. I had the chrome (nickel silver) polished and or re-done in many areas. The Packard Fuelizer works. When the car is running you can see the "flame" in the Carb "viewport". If you are unfamiliar with such a thing...just google "Packard Fuelizer". Feel free to ask any questions. The car is also being put up for sale elsewhere.
