Vehicle Detail

For auction is a 1969 Honda Trail CT70 motorcycle with a vintage ice chest containing what appears to be many extra/replacement Honda motorcycle parts (new and old) belonging to this motorcycle. I am listing the bike, and the chest of bike parts, for a friend who is in the process of trying to clean out her garage after her husband’s passing. I really do not know anything about this motorcycle other than what I can see and have found researching the internet. Her husband’s intention was to restore the bike but he obviously did not have time to begin the project. Please know if I misidentify or state any inaccurate information about this bike it is done so out of my ignorance of the motorcycle and not with any intent to mislead or omit anything about the piece. I respectfully request, if you read something that is confusing, incorrect or missing, simply send me an email letting me know of the mistake and I will immediately revise and/or update this description accordingly to include the information you provide me with. Remember, I am listing this for a friend so I am a private individual, NOT A BUSINESS, and I’m just trying to help settle an estate. My goal here is for everyone (Buyer and Seller) to walk away happy and pleased with this transaction after the auction ends. SPECIAL NOTE: This motorcycle DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE and is currently NOT operational. It needs a lot of work, therefore the bike is being offered in “AS IS” condition for “PARTS and/or REPAIR”. Please look closely at the photos and email me with any questions you have concerning the bike before entering your bid. Additionally, because of the size and weight of the bike, it is being listed for “LOCAL PICK UP” or the Buyer could “MAKE THEIR OWN PICK UP AND DELIVERY ARRANGEMENTS”. Either way, unless mutually agreed upon arrangements are made, the bike must be PAID IN FULL and picked up no later than 14 days after the end of the auction or their will be additional storage charges added for each day thereafter and the bike will not be released until any unpaid balance is paid in full. The winning bidder will receive a “BILL OF SALE” from me “before the bike is released” thus documenting the motorcycle’s legal sale and lawful transfer of ownership. The motorcycle’s identification plate seen on the front fork states the bike was manufactured in October 1969. This tag also shows the bike's VIN# to be CT70-123098. This same VIN number is also found on the motorcycle’s frame; see photos. The number on the bike’s engine block is CT70E-122690. I was told the engine was original to the bike but I am NOT certain of this because I thought all the numbers were supposed to “match”. Now, in researching the bike before listing it, I believe I read somewhere that the numbers on the bike's frame and motor DO NOT necessarily match. But these numbers can be easily cross-referenced to identify whether or not it is the original motor. I am assuming if you are looking to buy one of these motor bikes, and are reading this description, you already possess a lot more knowledge about the bike than I do and therefore most likely know all about the vehicle identification numbers and their meanings. I have always heard that a photograph is worth a thousand words; so, because of my limited knowledge of this motorcycle, I am letting the photographs do most of my talking insofar as this description is concerned. I can definitively state this bike will require a lot of work to restore. Although I see missing parts on this bike, I also see many parts remaining. Unfortunately, I do not know any specifics about the condition, functionality or whether or not any of these parts have or will work properly. I did fill both tires with air and they seem to be holding up well since it has been two days and no air has leaked out. While doing preliminary research on this bike I discovered Honda first introduced the CT70 series motorcycles in August 1969 thus making this October 1969 bike a fairly early model in their production line. I also found similar CT70 motorcycles in the same NON-RUNNING condition selling on eBay, and other motorcycle sale venues, consistently for much more than the opening bid for this bike. Apparently there is a large market for restored CT70 Honda motorcycles and their parts. The vintage ice chest the additional motorcycle parts are contained inside is collectible in its own right; inasmuch, the chest is worth some decent money by itself. Based on what little I know from researching this motorcycle, I believe this is a great opportunity for someone to acquire a good decent restoration project that when completed will certainly be worth their while and investment given the prices the restored CT70 Trail bikes are commanding. Please look at the photos closely as they accurately depict the condition of the motorcycle I describe and show exactly what you will receive if you win this auction. If you have any questions or need additional photographs of a particular part of the bike, please email me and I will respond ASAP. Please remember I am not mechanically inclined nor am I a motorcycle person; I am selling this bike for a friend. So, I do not know any of the particular specifications concerning this motorcycle so please do not ask me those types of questions, I will most likely not understand what you are asking and/or will not know the answers to such technical questions. Please remember before bidding, this bike is for “LOCAL PICK UP” or “YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN SHIPPING ARRANGMENTS”. I cannot arrange shipping your bike but will be available to ensure a smooth coordinated transfer of the property. Note: the motorcycle must be picked up no later than by close of business on the 14th day after the auction ends. Good luck! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
