Vehicle Detail
Listing the following for auction: 1965 Chevy Custom Pickup Truck. This was my son's truck his junior and senior year of high school. We originally picked it up in Oklahoma as a gift, had to have it towed back to Wichita, KS. Truck needed some work, but due to his budget constraints, he only opted to put in a new battery, had all of the electrical rewired, had the brakes completely redone, and put on 4 new tires (in Spring 2013) to make it drivable. As a teenage driver, he wasn't comfortable driving it on the highway, so it has less than 2,000 miles on it since he got it, all city driving. When winter weather hit, he was timid about driving a rear wheel vehicle on ice and snow. So it sat in a garage until March (2014). I think he drove it a few times this spring, but as he was making college visits, he needed something to drive greater distances and on the highway. The truck has been garaged since March 2014. He has a tailgate, but I don't think he ever put it on, not that any of us knew how to put it on. It needs a new battery, so will not start. We had it towed to a mechanic this past week and they gave us some detail on the truck. 6 Cylinder 250, 3 speed on the column, push button start. Engine will crank but the battery is dead. Has a transmission leak. Truck has no emergency brake. Needs new battery and starter. Needs complete tune up with new coil. Needs speedo gear seals and hose to vacuum modulator. Not being an old car person, I don't know what some of these details mean, but I can tell you it was tough getting the truck into reverse on cool mornings and really needed to warm up a bit to get it into reverse. So please bid on the truck knowing that it has some work that needs to be done. The truck was tagged/titled/licensed in Kansas. #C1445S175889 They told my son the truck frame and cab have mismatched numbers or something, and that the original frame probably rusted or rotted out. Body condition is pretty good actually and it has a decent paint job. It was by no means a professional paint job, but was a great first car for my son. The dual exhaust/muffler glasspacks made it sound really nice but as it was his first car and rather old, he was pretty timid about driving it recklessly. I don't think the radio works anymore, and I don't think the gas gauge worked correctly because whenever I drove it, it would "bounce" continually. So we never let it run out of gas. Selling this truck AS IS - no refunds, please. If you have any questions or concerns or if I've forgotten anything, please LMK and I will try and get the answers as best I can. Winning bidder to pick up locally (Wichita, KS) or arrange to have vehicle picked up and shipped at buyer's cost. Can accept paypal or other certified payment. Initial deposit required on vehicle within 7 days, please, of $250. Thank you for reading.
