I have for sale a 1964 Mercury Comet 202 2 door Coupe. It has an automatic transmission and either a 289 or 302 V8 engine. I have not found the engine code, but the intake manifold and carburetor codes point to a 302 made in 1969. The valve covers also point that direction. This car appears very straight and is ready for restoration. Very little is missing off this car (fuel filler door and right rear fender trim pieces are all I can see upon quick inspection). Oxidation appears to be mostly surface rust, although the right rear fender does appear to have a small amount of deeper rust. Engine oil is clean and full. Transmission fluid is also clean and full. Radiator is empty. Fuel system is disconnected and sealed shut. It appears the car was put into hibernation correctly. I put a battery in the car, and it does turn over, so the engine should be good with a little work. All I know about the car is that it was put into storage in a barn in west Texas near Big Spring in 1986 and has not been registered since. Documentation found in the glove box indicates the owner was having health problems in 1985 and 1986.
