1989 by CouponDropDown">Honda VFR400rr with clean/clear NYS street title 90% Original 1989 VFR400RK model 27177 KM (16887 Miles) British Columbia Import Issued VIN # 2bg20228301007942 Original Stamped VIN # NC301007942 Rare 1989 Honda VFR400R NC30 PLATED AND STREET LEGAL Great Condition - Turn key - ready to ride Exotic!! 1989 Honda NC30 / VFR400R Japanese Market Import As motorcyclists, we tend to think we have experienced every type of thrill when you have ridden the latest high-performance machinery, particularly from the super sport category where the horsepower can overwhelm your adrenal glands. The NC30/VFR400RR immediately reminds you that there is another way to get a big thrill on two wheels by combining great engine performance with extremely low weight and simply amazing handling!! There is simply nothing like the howl of the V-4’s gear driven cams in the high RPMs where this machine was made to run. It can simply not be described, recordings fall short – you have to hear this bike –In Person - it is soul stirring and simply begs to be ridden fast through corners – and it will reward you with a grin that cannot be slapped off your face even days later. This bike is simply the most fun I have had in 40 years of riding sport bikes. The ONLY reason I am selling this bike is it started an addiction to these race bred 400’s and don’t get this confused with a FZR400 we had here in the states…. Those were nice, but nothing like what the home market was getting! So after riding a Home Market GSXR400RR – which from all reviews is the runt of the litter… I was amazed as I had not had that much fun – well ever on a bike. It simply wants to go, and will go all day way up at 13.5 and sounds amazing – And the Honda NC30 is the prom Queen of these early 90’s 400’s. I sourced this beautiful example, traced it’s history from Japan to Canada and then brought down into The State of Washington where it resided for years in a collection…and once I rode it – fell in love. Then by accident found 2 more – a track only heavily modified NC30 and a HRC modified NC30 – both with more miles but also none of the OEM body work. This one up for sale is the rare and very sought after tri-color model and as it is in such great shape – it is unfortunately and simply not seeing the street time it deserves as I feel more comfortable screaming around on one of the modified examples as they are already non stock examples, and if something unfortunate did happen – I won’t feel as bad as I would on the stock engine / OEM bike. I did put some Chinese color matched body work on the bike to protect the OEM stuff from any road debris – also to keep it completely unrestored as suggested by one of the premiere hot rod shops in the area. So I end up riding this to events or bike nights as it grabs a LOT of attention – this bike was on display at the Honda Corporate Tent at Americade in 2013. And I can tell you it makes going anywhere whatsoever more fun than it legally should be!! The OEM body work and other OEM parts have been stored in a climate controlled garage – but is has been put back on for the sale – and the other OEM parts, brake-clutch levers/bar ends/directionals are all going along with the bike. I do not have the original rear sets or exhaust system as these had been replaced with beautiful Japanese made parts before it came over to Canada. I did get rid of the Scorpion Exhaust that was on the bike as it was too long and carbon fiber – which simply does not fit the style of the bike at all – So I replaced that with a custom fit Tyga Stainless Steel canister. All parts and upgrades are listed below. Full clear NYS title in Hand! Absolutely beautiful mechanically perfect machine! – The Tri Color is prettiest and most collectable of the NC30 line up. Bike has had the full unrestored original OEM Honda Tricolor body work and gas tank re-installed for the sale. Please note picture descriptions as both OEM and Chinese body work pics are listed. The Chinese body will be available with the bike as well. Rick Oliver 17” wheel conversion (VFR800 5 spoke rear rim) is included in the sale and comes with original OEM linkage and 18” unrestored rear wheel/tire installed. COERCE racing rear sets are installed and were on the bike when I purchased it. I do ride this bike on the street, but it has never seen a track to my knowledge, and was run up and down the street monthly once it was imported into Canada. The owner I purchased it from brought it into Washington and had it as part of a collection and it was not titled in Washington until 2012 when I purchased the bike, I have since then I had it registered in NYS and a NYS title has been issued and it has a current NYS inspection as well. -Complete set of unrestored Tri Color Honda OEM body work and Original Gas Tank with all home market stickers and warning labels in place. -Complete MotoStar ABS Tri Color Honda replica body work – OEM gas tank with professional restoration of OEM colors and stickers maybe negotiated separately, but not included with the bike. -Upgraded CDI and de-restriction (raises rev and MPH limit) -Ethos Half System Rear Race kit pipes combined with Front OEM header – popular upgrade / race setup in Japan at the time. Produces a smooth mid-range power delivery. -Tyga SS exhaust can with OEM hanger (OEM passenger foot pegs in place) -OEM forks with Rick Oliver upgraded spring kit for weight range of 180-200 pound rider – OEM springs included -Newly Powder coated white OEM front wheel and 17” Rick Oliver rear wheel conversion – VFR750F 5 spoke rear rim with fully modified Rick Oliver Center Hub/Suspension linkage / rocker included. -Original OEM unrestored 18” rear rim/tire and linkage parts included -OEM rear Suspension -COERCE` Race Rear Sets- Japanese made and an expensive `top of the range` item– these were on the bike when I bought it and there are no OEM front pegs with the bike. -Hel Steel Braided brake lines in Blue – OEM brake lines included. -Adjustable Shorty Billet Brake and Clutch Levers – OEM Levers included -Brand new Sintered Racing Brake Pads installed – OEM pads included - Brand New Dunlop Q2 tires – 17” -OEM Directionals (blue housings) on OEM body work – Aftermarket black OEM Pattern style Included. Converter overlay included. -Multiple windscreens – Extra MotoStar Windscreen included – OEM windscreen installed on OEM body work with all original warning stickers in place. I am also happy to work with any shipper the winning bidder decides on. Bike is located in Albany NY. This is a really clean and nicely sorted NC30, plated with CLEAN AND CLEAR title and this bike has a correct Canadian issued 17 digit 400cc Honda VIN complete with stamp. You should be able to title it in any state, even CA with the 17 digit VIN. Please email me with any questions or concerns you may have before you bid!! Of all the exotic bikes and rare bike's I have had over the years this is one of the harder ones to let go....V4...360 degree crank, Gear driven cams. It is one of the all-time classic Honda's and this one has none of the corrosion you see on many Japanese Homeland imports and is a very nice weekend rider, or even for a collection. Please have a close look at all the photos that point out some small flaws on bodywork etc. There is quite a bit of money in upgrades on the bike, and all the upgrades that were done by myself, were done only after consulting with Rick Oliver… if you don’t know of Mr. Oliver, you will – he is the best source for parts/advice and recommendations on the NC30 period. All in all it is a really well sorted NC30 with the 17 inch rear wheel upgrade, so you can use and take advantage of new state of the art rubber. It starts and runs perfect, carburates excellent and pulls clean and hard all the way to redline. It is very, very quick for a 400, handles wonderfully and is a lot of fun to ride. Bodywork overall is in really good condition, but please look at the pictures, there are some small stone chips in the tank that I think the original owner may have tried to touch up, and what looks like some zipper scratches and body work has some really minor regular wear chips and finally the OEM windshield has a couple of ½ inch age cracks along the top lip – so small that most people would not care – but I know they are there. Replacements of high quality are available from Pyramid or right through Rick Oliver. But considering its age – it has less chips than most 2 year old bikes and this is keep in mind is a 1989. I was thinking of having it repainted- but the body shop I work with felt it should be left unmolested. The Chinese replica body work has some stress cracks and took a stone hit that cracked the lower – minor and as its plastic it could be simply glued – The Chinese stuff is really light flimsy stuff and cracks easily, however the paint job is fairly well done, and it worked great for the season and a half that I had it on, and it’s real easy and cheap to get. And this set has been already mounted so all that hassle of prepping it is done. If anyone tells you the replacement Chinese body work will fit right up – they are lying. Frame, forks, wheels, swing arm are all corrosion/damage free other than normal wear (actually less so) then what you would expect from a bike this age. It has been looked after very well. These are getting very hard to find in any condition, but especially with any OEM body work and as nice as this one. It would be at home in any collection and will make a wonderful weekend/bike night or even a track day toy...it draws a crowd where ever it goes. And did I mention this is a seriously FUN bike to ride. You may hear that these bikes are small, as in physically small, and it is GP Race bike in size, but I am six foot even, 185lbs and fit on it just fine, any taller however and you will probably be a bit cramped. The sound is right out of the MotoGP paddock...and only slightly less loud!! You will not be disappointed and the look of modern super sport riders faces when they realize they were struggling to keep up with a 20 year old 400 is simply priceless!! Please note that the Title reads 1987 – check the OEM VIN and you will see it is actually a 1989, they did not make these in 1987 – 1989 was the first year. I believe this was done to get it past Canadian border inspectors, as for them anything older than I think 20 years required no title, and less fees. I RESERVE RIGHT TO END AUCTION FOR LOCAL SALE!! Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-CN X-NONE On May-26-14 at 10:38:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I have uploaded some more close ups and got some shots or the nicks/cover up that were there when I got her, and the windshield crack.... not easy as they are so small and did not show up in the picks done out in direct sunlight. The bike has JUST been serviced by Dave Koban of Matt's Honda in Coxsackie NY.... anyone familiar with Jim Hunter's Britten and the Daytona wins it had will know Dave's name, he was the tuner for Britten for all it's Daytona wins, there really are few better tuners. He is also Fully Honda certified. Fresh oil, new plugs, gaskets, new battery, everything checked over, Dave re-installed all the OEM body work and was the guy that fitted/modified to work on the road, the Chinese body work. Dave did the full check out when I got her and has done all the service and upgrade installations, such as break pads / Hel steel brake lines. All professionally done - no back yard mechanic stuff going on here. The DUNZ connectors are not painted, they are powder coated to match the OEM paint and NONE of the body work/gas tank/anything has been re-painted - ALL OEM PAINT. Any fasteners/hardware that were worn or chewed up were replaced by fresh new RC30 hardware right from Honda (same part numbers as the NC) so that all the body work screws were as good looking as the body work. I have all the original hardware as well, and will be provided with the bike. Rear stand can be negotiated and there is a Opti Mate 4 battery charger that will go with the bike as well. and this probably goes without saying - but the bike is sold in as is condition with no warranty. I am available to answer any questions at all..... email me and I can give you my number or I can call you. I am more than happy to go over anything and did quite a bit of research on tracking this bike and asking questions about things like the exhaust / rear sets with Rick Oliver - a TREMENDOUS wealth of information and your best source for upgrades or parts. The guys at Tyga and WeMoto have also been great as well for getting parts and spares and anything that is regular maintenance stuff.
